TOMO 27,407
to be honest i do 3-4 mile evryday behind the van,, slowing down and speeding up,, even the old bitch at 10 does this evryday,,,only takes 15 mins,, when i used to do bike work i would do about 10 mile,,,,,, but no amount of bike , running , or behind the motor,,, is a substitute for work...... but its a nice way to spend an hour or two in the late summer 3 Quote Link to post
FUJI 17,328
How how much do you do? If any. how fast? How far? cheers Could do with knowing this too At this time of year i'd be doing none! Now the season has ended my advice would be just let your dogs enjoy the spring and summer months with nothing other than just the daily walks and a bit of swimming when the weather becomes to warm (here's hoping) lol.. a period of rest is just as important as any other aspect when it comes to lurcherwork, getting a dog fit is easy, keeping it fit and at the top of it's game for several months is the art of a good dogman/woman..there is some sound advice on how far and at what speed to trot the dog behind the bike on this thread so imo there is no need to go down that road so to speak? One point i would add is it also depends on the type of lurcher you keep? Obviously a 3/4 Grey or such wouldn't be wanting 10+ miles behind the bike on a regular basis! I've seen lads many times train their dogs hard thinking they were onto a winner only for them to fail in the field..just remember that dogs are NOT robots..they ALL have a breaking point, whether that be in the field or behind the bike etc:..ATB Andy. 2 Quote Link to post
