You've obviously got a problem with the bloke, go sort it out man to man instead of the constant snidey remarks about the forum. It's getting old....

Paid 935
I think its been mentioned in this thread, but i recon you would enjoy the 3 peaks challenge. Snowdon, scafell and ben nevis in under 24 hours. I did it a few years back for charity, really enjoyed it, and its quite well organised. Once you get ben nevis done, which is a cracking walk, you might want too look at the 3 peaks. http://www.thethreepeakschallenge.co.uk/ Edited October 10, 2012 by Paid
gnasher16 30,025
3 and 1/2 to 5 just to the top or up and down? If you are fit and training for it you should be up and down in 3 1/2 I would have thought. I climbed it about 6 weeks ago. Then drove to Scarfell, climbed that and then gave another lad the drive to Wales. 20 mins into the drive to Snowdon my body bailed on me and I was travel sick all the way to Wales! 5 hours of wretching bile, spent most of the motorway with my head out the window, got to Snowdon car park, fell out of the car and slept on the hard tarmac, I felt shit, lol. We were bang on time to finnish the challenge with in 24hrs as well. Was a bit gutted but I can't do shit without getting travel sick, never that badly though. But I loved Nevis! I felt strong going up and down and want to go back to see how fast I can climb it. The lads I was with were quite slow and I had to keep waiting when I lost sight of them. Very intimidating when you first see 'The Ben'..... Thats interesting.....every story i hear seems to have much different times like Lab says ive heard folk say 3 and a half is more realistic........just wanted to ask you lads, when you did it was you sticking to the paths ?......Im told the paths are not the most direct route but obviously you then risk running into trouble.........it will just be a race to the summit which i believe if sticking to the paths is just shy of 10 miles.......taking into account the harsh ground and slight incline i figured worst ways an average of 4 mph would give a time of around 2 and a half hours inc a few stops..........im not exactly Mo Farrah and im certainly not built for distance running but i can shift when i need to ive been doing some hill sprints over Hainault Forest the last few weeks nothing compared to Ben Nevis i know but im happy with my improvements so far......also,what month did you do it in.....i take it Nov - Feb is a no no ? Ta chaps
scothunter 12,609
Yea it would be a bit more of a challenge, and more like survival during those months lol I'd leave it till end of match or April.

Ta chaps I didn't do it in 3.5 hrs Gnash mate, sorry if I misslead you. We (our little team) did it in a few minutes over 5 hours (up and down), but I'm sure I could do it in 4 with no special training if on my own, so 3 and 1/2 for someone that has done a bit of serious training seems very realistic. The bloke that owned the hostel we stayed in did it in 2 hours, a smoker with cancer in his 50s!!!! Like I said, I was strong going up, the other lads could'nt keep the pace so I would get out of sight then wait for them, this happened quite regular and I was waiting for 10-20 minutes at a time. Then once into the clouds I could'nt be arsed with all the f*****g about and just went for it, I was 45 minutes at the top before setting off again. Similar thing going down, waiting but then fecked off on my own when the car park was in sight. My quads were having the seven bells thrashed out of them coming down. Rightly or wrongly I stopped 'walking' down and let myself 'flow' a bit........ My legs felt 100% better for it but the increased pace took me off on my own. It's great and I'm looking forward to going back. I even had a quick chat on the way down with a woman sat on a rock with a Fell that had clearly seen some work, suprised me a bit, lol. Just wanted to add, I'm not a particularly strong walker, just stronger than the lads I was with.
Millet 4,497
I would piss that in 2 1/2 hr's but only on the way down in a tractor innertube..
Born Hunter 17,751
it will just be a race to the summit which i believe if sticking to the paths is just shy of 10 miles.......taking into account the harsh ground and slight incline i figured worst ways an average of 4 mph would give a time of around 2 and a half hours inc a few stops It's not the 10 miles that's the bitch but the 4'000ft ascent and 4'000ft descent, lol. Follow the paths I think is most people's advice, any other way and you're gonna end up airlifted off, lol. Oh and aim to get it all done before 8-9am. The paths are like a f*****g motorway after then!

The paths are like a f*****g motorway after then! Good advice....We set of early but it was still jammed packed and at the start you can be held up as the path is pretty narrow.Gnasher.....When you get there and you climb what i would call the first section which is quite large steps in the rock.....a short arse must struggle here. Lucky i'm not and boomed up that bit. Then it opens out and you get some cracking views.....you could certainly take some short cuts and we looked at a few on the way down.....but if you tripped youd be down very very fast and then shortly followed by a long stay in A&E........... Just to add it was a group of lads that i did the walk with.....we arrived the night before and went out for a few pints.... Staggered in at 2/3 in the morning, up at around 8 to climb it....even a local lass asked us on the night before what we were at Fort Willaim for and we said "To climb Nevis!!".......she looked at the nick of us and said "No chance!!!".... So really what i'm saying is its not that hard................ Oh and when we got to the top we had to drink a beer for my mate that died.......it was that f*****g cold i couldn't even hold the tin.. . Good luck with it though mate........
