Had me 17hmr about 2yrs, never had the oppertunity to shoot charlie until recently,took this one out about 6 weeks ago out to about 75/80yds. Only just learned how to dowmload from me phone hence the delay in posting,sorry for the poor image.

Fenbo firstly not knocking your thread in anyway, but i feel it needs mentioning that there is a fair bit of controversy about foxes with 17 hmr,s. Down here several keeper friends have had well placed shots on foxes with the affore mentioned at even silly close ranges and it has knocked them over only to get back up and run off. One of the keepers has just had it happen for the second time, neither fox being further than fifty yards, he wont be using it on foxes again.

Lots of people rant about this calibre i know but these things need to be kept in prospective, there was even a couple of dick heads on here a while back saying they would use it on roe, A, illegal, B, cretin springs to mind.

Like i said though not nocking you, just saying people need to think before squeezing that trigger.

Just a query to those in the know...I remember reading somewhere a lot of years ago that you should not shoot foxes with less than 40gn,is this law or just the writers opinion?

Edited to say; I was with a guy who shot a fox with a .17 about -90 yds and it dropped first shot but was still alive when we went to pick up,he had to shoot it another 2 times to kill it.

Yea i think your right didnt kill him outright sticking to my 22250 from now on mate keep the 17 for rabbits etc;

I have heard several story's about it taking more than one shot to kill a fox with a 17, the 22-250 sound's more like it.
