a bucket of water,or hosepipe rigged up works just as good, these collars have to be used wisely, know someone who used the spray collar, and it worked a treat, untill he forgot to take it off and dog fell asleep,as normal dog in its dreams starts whimpering/off goes the spray, dog shoots up shitting it self,...that dog was a nervous wreck for sometime after that....so theres good an bad about the collars......

When does the dog whine?

What do you do (other than telling the dog off) to stop it whining i.e. move twoards the door with it, feed it, let it out etc.?

What is the dog's body psture like when it is whining? Tail between the legs, ears back, hanging head etc.?

There wil be a logical reason behind why the dog is whining and if you can sort that out the dog will be grateful for not being punished for feeling stressed or anxious which can lead to further unwanted behaviour and you won't be out of pocket. It is usually something simple enough.

This is oneof the many reasons e-collars should not be sold publicly or to anyone who can't prove they are a practicing dog behaviourist.

Thats a bit strong " A Retard"....

Anti bark collars work great.

Lads mabie received a letter of complaint from council, these collars will compelety stop the problem..

Least the lads willing to cure the problem and not pass it on... Give him a chance he mabie has tried several other methods and failed..

You would be better with anti bark rather than remote, they are cheaper and will work when your not at home.. Friend has used one with great results.

i own a e collar i used mine for the dog hunting up hasn't done it sinse will work just the same on the dog whining will cure the dog but you have to no what ya doing with one as i have said be for ask pac dog they will give grate advice on how to use one properly

That's all fine and dandy but what if your dog is in pain and has a genuine reason for whining rather than doing it because it is a way for it to receive attention regardless if it is positive or negative attention?

A dog will generally whine due to anxiety, stress or pain so unless you have been rewarding it (just ignor eit) why put the dog through something which is goign to cause even further anxiety, stress and pain? The dog will be a wreck.

If a dog whines when you are out and about and it is home alone then there is a long list of measures you can do to resolve the issue without resorting to e-collars. Plus if you have multiple dogs you can't use anti-bark collars as the dog could be conditioned to a behaviour it was carrying out when another dog in close proximity barked or made a noise and this goes for dogs passing by your garden if the dog is kennelled outside. I've had to deal with a GSD that had been blasted with e-collars to try and curb its behaviour around other dogs but it just made ths situation worse - "When youa re near I get pain so I want you to go away before we are 20yrds away as I don;t want to get hurt!". Turns out all the dog wanted to do was play with other dogs but it took a great deal longer rectifying the effects of the e-collar than it would just socialisign the dog around other dogs.

When you ignore a learned behaviour the dog will escalate the behaviour before it realises it isn;t worth doing because it isn't getting what it wants. Think of it as you pushign the button on the lift to go to your floor. The doors don't shut and nothing happens. Do you wait? No, you push the button again and again and again until the doors or the lift perform a recognised behaviour that it is doing something, you push the button like this due to being conditioned that when you push a button soemthing should happen, the dog is wired just the same way.

When was the last time this dog was given a full check by the vet to make sure there is no underlying issue that is causing the dog discomfort to rule out whining due to pain?

If you follow the instructions the sporting dog rechargable are spot on, after one or two shocks you will maybe never need to shock them again, as soon as they hear the tone they will be quiet even if they dont have coller on!

Mine are pretty good but if for any reason the being noisey I hang coller up in kennel and make it beep, every dog in kennel shuts up, I use my collers regular and not one of my dogs has had a shock for over 6 months, as soon as they feel the coller on them or hear it they dont put a foot wrong.
