Lamp required

Lads,

 

I have been out of the lamping game for a while and need to get my hands on a new lamp and battery for lurcher work on rabbits, not rifle shooting. Before I start searching in earnest I wondered what you could recommend.

 

I must stress that I am not in the least interested in massive candlepower lights - they ruin the game as far as I am concerned. I have used and abused a Deben Blue Eye 200,000CP lamp for years and it is not reliable now so I am looking for a similar modern lamp unit with 200 - 500,000 CP pin spot beam and a suitable power supply.

 

What do you reckon?

If you dont want a big lamp then the Clulite is what you want there good little lamps my mate has one, Id still reccomend the Lightforce 170 though great lamps and Ive had no trouble from mine at all,

lazerlite deluxe double bulb and 10amp 12v battery,approx 5-6 hours lamping time,they are perfect for rabbits and spares are easy to get hold of.they are not a bad price £125 all in including charger,rigid case and shoulder strap,that would be my advice otc

ive got a cluson lazerlite. not a bad lamp, however the beam seems a bit too wide. i paid 4 quid for the lamp and made the rest of the kit up from boot sales or ads etc. female cig lighter plus a bit of wire from maplins few quid. 7ah batt 2 quid car boot.... 14 ah batt :whistle: .... carry case for the 7ah fiver off another forum. total cost....well less than cluson charge anyway.

Lightforce Blitz for "back of the van" - "roadsideing" (which is all i seem to do last season)

Both the lamps mentioned by Lurchers 2006 are good I used a cluson lazerlightfor years ,its a good lamp for rabbits ,and the walking beam is very handy for undoing gates etc,when mine wore out I bought a Lightforce Striker,its a good lamp ,but the connections are not that great ,most guys do a diy job on the connection,I find they do drain the battery rather quick,for bunnies Id go for the Clulite,Lazer.

we use a lazerlite aswell its me dads and hes had it 12 years but it is perfect for rabbits

I use a lazerlite for bunnies and have a lightforce 170 for the bigger stuff with a dimmer fitted to the battery pack.

It sounds like the Lazerlite is the tool for what I want.

 

Now then, has anyone got a good one for sale at a resonable price? No wrecks please . . .

Liteforce 170 for me over the Clulite anyday of the week. I suppose the clulite's are ok in smallish field's...grazing / pasture land. But on larger type of land, drilled crop field's that I regularly work, I find them just not to be powerful enough especially when the quarry turn's and head's for the opposite hedge.

 

Tote... How can a lamp be "too bright" as long has the beam is tight enough, surely a brighter / whiter light has got to help the dog ????

I have to say that I am with Tote on the candlepower issue - I don't need massive amounts of light for my business and personally believe has been responsible for most lamp shy foxes you encounter (who have had their retinas burned out before).

 

My game will solely be for rabbits and in relatively small fields so I don't need the brighter light. I personally think it is a hindrance rather than a help.
