speak to topper mate,he knows his bedlingtons they sound about the right size to me,have they seen owt yet?yis dave

The guy that's sellin them has too many dogs and lives close to Dublin City and needs to disperse of some as he's getting complaints from neighbours against barking. He says they've just done a bit o

I went and seen the beddys yesterday and they were miserable specimens, badly reared, no confidence etc. I also went and saw some working whippet pups and bought one of them, a nice blue brindled pup

He says he traveled 150 mile to buy them and paid a lot of money for them, as they're from really good (rillington) lines.

Ask where he got them, find out what the parents are doing then its your choice.

The trouble with asking that Twotone is if he,s just after getting ridd of his shite he,ll tell him what he wants to hear, as you know, we,v all met that sort mate, buster. Edited by buster gonads

I did ask him just that and he was very vague and unconvincing. I think he might be dealing in dogs, have no hard facts to back that up, just a feeling. I know of a plummer for sale, 14mths and bushing and ratting like mad. Will probably buy him, just he's nearly 200 mile away, only thing that's stalling me.

Also, ask your self why anyone would want to get ridd of a Plummer that age that is bushing and ratting like mad, after all, thats usully what people buy them for, if your not in a rush, get a pup either off somone you know, whos dogs are doing what you want or off somone who,s recomended to you, atb what ever way you go, buster.

If there was any whippet/bedlington cross pups available, I'd have gone for one of those but they seem scarce in Ireland at the moment. I've had whippets and greyhounds in the past and like their temperament. Although I'd like also do a bit of ratting, I love seeing a dog in full flight across an open field after a rabbit.

Stripes: That's very decent of you to offer me a pup as you have and if I hadn't just got this one, I'd have came for it and been delighted to get it. I can't take another at this stage, unfortunately, but thanks very much indeed.

Meant to add, I decided against the plummer terrier, mainly due to the distance involved (400 mile round trip). He sounded like a good dog, but who knows. I prefer to get a pup than an older dog, then you have a much better chance of training him as you want and know he's been done right.

I got him for 60 Euros. They were asking 80, wasn't dear and the kennels and all dogs were well kept.

It was clearly a working kennels, they also had terriers and ferrets, so I'm happy enough.

He's a nice pup, won't be overly big but very well made with a good chest and good straight legs.

Dogs are very cheap in Ireland at the minute, recession here has killed everything.
