Dont feed it to gundog, do you want it to start eating birds on shoot days?

Nonsense.

Really??? Well you cant be too sure that a pup might take a wee likeing for munching on a few birds. I certainly wouldn't waste a young pup by throwing them a bird to eat.....imo.

id bin it unless i see it hit by the car. cant believe the ammount of deer people pick off the roads, they must be fresh because they are still warm, got nothing to do wih the sun beating down on them then

Had a lovely young muntjac that i picked off the road the other nite, fresh as a daisy and only had a knock to the head!! No burst grassbag or a mark on the meat at all!! Very tasty it was too!! Wouldn't pick one that had been there overnight though the shade of green underneath soon tells you how long it's been there

I think he'll be fine if he skins the bird and joints it up. I don't think dogs can make the connection between the fully feathered body and the lumps of meat and bone in it's dinner bowl.

This is probably all irrelevant now, I expect Niall has already done what he's going to do!

all sorted folks and cheers for the conflicting advice.

in the end i let the dog have a few cold retrieve's which i have to say was as funny as fook after she initally got over her inquisitive shyness of it.

i took the wings off it and have them tied around her dummey.

as for eating it now there is no chance, she has it in bits.

my dogs are deff not hard mouthed if they were i don't think keepers would send one of the underkeepers to pick two pups just on what the parents are like, or that on one shoot my dogs are the only dogs allowed in the line!

I feed Barf from weaning, I don't just chuck them carcase they get skinned rabbits, vension, duck, partridge, offal and bones from abbitor ,eggs
