yeti 84
Just wondering if you can get any sort of feet covers for my bitch when out running along side the bike . I'm just a bit concerned case I take her pads off . Cause it's mainly on Tarmac we do about 6 to 10 mile every other day .no signs yet but soon we will be doing about 20 miles so any help would be good ? Quote Link to post

thorny 100
I am a very keen runner Myself, My lad always runs with me. I know my main run and how far it is. I do 8 miles 3 times a week. My lad is off lead running about here there and everywhere, and easy does double what I do. The only time he runs at heel is if we see another dog coming other than that he is off doing his thing and notching up the miles. Wouldnt be surprised if he dont get close to 20 miles some days. Sad thing is I get back to the van well and truely knackered, most the time the lurcher is hardly panting. Who said Collie x greys have no wind Quote Link to post

Simoman 110
Why ? May be get muscle bound eh Why, its to much, you will damage the dogs muscles, tendons and joints doing20 miles on the road, its just not needed. In my opinion a few miles roadwaking and some free running is all thats needed....... Quote Link to post
littlefish 587
I would say 20 miles is too much. Maybe you should run instead of riding a bike - that may keep it at a more manageable pace for the dog. The dog may not actually be 'loving' that level of forced exercise, it is after all just feeling under pressure to follow you as its leader. Don't forget as well that the weather is heating up. chartpolski 24,639
There's not a dog in the world that needs 20 mile roadwork every day !! Give the dog a break and do a bit mooching around the fields and letting it run around. Sure, some road work may be good for a dog.... but 20 mile a day ??? !!! Cheers. Quote Link to post
