Squirrel_Basher 17,100
A mate of mine whos in the pest control business has recently been asked to thin out a few corvids that are pulling out seedlings in fresh drillings .They do this its thought to get at any grubs beneath the plant but is very annoying for the farmer as you can imagine .Also theres a water trough nearby thats getting fouled badly .The idea was to set up under a rookery and shoot returning birds .For those of you with a concience ,yes there are eggs about but better that than chicks .The action was very slow to start with with the rooks not returning as expected but the jackdaws that were sharing the nests were in abundance .I managed two rooks and 12 jacks that i picked but six more were not found in the long grass including a carrion .My mate had seven picked with four unaccounted for .He had a carrion and six jacks to hand .The sport was fast at one time with birds belting through the trees and providing snap shooting of the highest caliber. I shot a rat too that climbed a tree near me but the result wasnt pretty . Quote Link to post
