Gerbil415 0
Hi all! Very new to hunting. Haven't actually shot anything yet or have a rifle (on it's way) Just curious, i have ordered a Smk air rifle and Smk lead pellet's. I aim to be shooting live rabbit's, birds and other small game, but i'd also like to eat these. Will using lead pellets give me lead poisoning? I know this may be a simple question but i thought i'd better be safe! Cheers Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
I wouldn`t worry about lead poisoning, as the SMK will be lucky to penetrate the skin on a rabbit. Starvation mibbe, but not lead poisoning best way to kill a rabbit with an SMK is to hide up a tree and drop it on the bunny as he passes under you. Aim for the heed. Double query so double answer Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
Ah poo! But it said full power on the website? Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Sorry bud,, but the old adage, buy cheap buy twice was never truer than in the airgun hunting game. For the money you paid, you should have picked up a good secondhand quality air rifle. My advice Cancel the order, or call and try and change it. You must be picking the gun up if you bought new yes?? if so. just go and look at it then say it doesn`t feel right in fit etc,, can you change it or just leave it. Quote Link to post
Baghdadnights 150
I disagree Rake they will kill a rabbit if you wrap a lettuce leaf around the end of the barrel then sit very very still and wait for the rabbit to come up and open its mouth around the barrell then shoot Seriously though the smk is not known for its power or accuracy best of buying a secondhand decent make BSA air arms weihrach etc 1 Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
Nah i ordered it from Pellpax online who deliver the rifle to your door :/ Ah well i'm very new to sport and have never shot air rifles. Was a impulse buy but am also on a tight budget :/ Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Now I feel like a twat for depressing you ! Sorry bud, Quote Link to post
Baghdadnights 150
Not sure that's legal anymore thought all new air rifles had to be sold face to face from rfd I'd still try and cancel the order Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
Nah pellpax are RFD's and have their own delivery team and van's. And only for a cost of £19.99 which i thought was pretty good considering i'm at the other end of the country! Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
pellpax deliver They must use an RFD courier and carry out the face to face at your door. Won`t they change the order?? Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
No it's staff at Pellpax which drive the vans, all are RFD's The law doesn't state whether the sale has to be in a shop, at your door or at a mental asylum And yes they charge £19.99 for delivery which has just made me think. I'm expecting delivery wednesday but with this fuel crisis i may not get it!! I've already waited almost 2 weeks even though they're site says 'we aim to get you your rifle within 7 working days' Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
There you are then Cancel the order due to the time taken, if they refuse say you want to upgrade the gun get in there Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
Ah but my girlfriend is almost pretty irritated that i want to shoot 'fluffy little wabbits' and i really don't' want to tell her i spent even more on a rifle Quote Link to post
Rake aboot 4,936
Man up ! lol Just tell her the one you ordered was out of stock Seriously, you could get a wee BSA lightning for the same money that will be a far better gun Quote Link to post
Gerbil415 0
Thing is i haven't actually told her i've ordered it She said she'd shoot one though but at non living things! If they ring me and say they have no petrol i will ask for my money back else i'd be waiting atleast another millennium! Quote Link to post
