Guest Ditch_Shitter
Frank; Dogs generally re eat their own puke, mate. And they generally puke what they've eaten too fast. Obvious questions are: What are ye feeding the bitch? (I don't care what He fer her. What are You feeding her?) Ammounts? Under what domestic circumstances is she being fed? Time, place in the home, from what type / position of bowl? Are there any other Dogs in the vicinity? How does she seem in herself, food regurgitation aside? How do you feel? I'd like to ask / know more but I'm just about ready to switch off here. Ye sure to recieve other responses before I get back. But those are my questions. The ones from which, largely, I'd be up for venturing an opinion. One other question which needs asking ~ in light of something I heard through the grape vine. From a source I can't access to verifie; I take it this bitch is completely secure from any, possibly external, sources of problematicals? How long have ye had her and how long has she had this problem? What's the daily routine? Back later. Probably about a good twelve hours later, I'm afraid. I'll check back though. Guest Frank
She gets fed morning and evening, the same food the breeder had, red mills and sheeps milk powder, diluted, with bread. She has had this since she was weened. She is fine in her self, eats with gosto each time, no other symtoms, running around playing ect. I reckon, could do with me introducing goat meat, she has never had that before, so it might take her a wee while to get use to it. I will try and mince it and put small bits at a time prehaps.? I also inrtoduce her to rabbit, which she loved, but then again, too much too soon prehaps? Frank.
Guest Lurcherbitch
How old is she? if she is Weeks old she wouold be better fed four to five times a day especialy if she is puking. Guest Frank
She is 4 months old LB. I am trying to introduce meat, but as i said, i reckon because she is not use to it, that she is getting sick? I have fed her 45 mins ago and so far, she seems to be holding it back. I gave her red mills and powderd sheeps milk, with bread, she et it fine. I am going to slowly get her on meat more, chiken, rabbit, ect. Frank.

Frank; Ye talking, above, like english isn't ye first f*cking language, mate. Are ye saying ye have given her goat meat and rabbit meat? Christ almighty. If so, there's ye answer. The gut of this - I assume - young pup will be used to the crap she'd been fed before. If ye switch Any Dogs diet from that stuff to flesh ~ especially Goat! ~ over night, it's gut'll need time to adjust. Bit like people who shoot off to Benidorm and then moan that 'The food's too rich', or what ever they say of it, having spent a week of agonised misery on the shitter. Anyway, between fielding PM's and other responses, I'm trying to slope off to bed. Mheanwhile, if ye moving her onto real Dog food? Yeppers: Mince the flesh and offer it in a par boiled broth of its own juices. That way she won't be able to wolf down lumps. She'll have to lap and fish for it. Try that and see how she gets on. 'Night'.

Guest Lurcherbitch
Oh my god!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! how sweet is she. Yep by the looks of her, feeding four or five times a day would be best. Good luck with her, she looks the buisness.
Guest Frank
Thank you LB. The breeder fed the litter twice a day , with a big bucket of racer dog food and sheeps milk powder diluted and white bread. So, what i will try and do is, reduce this, to 4 small portions, threw out the day? Thanks, Frank.
skycat 6,173
If the entire litter were fed together until that age then its quite likely the pup were wolfing down the slop (white bread  !), so as not to miss out then refurgitating in a quiet corner to eat at their leisure, which is what a lot of pack canines do. But WHITE BREAD?! I wouldn't even give my chickens white bread!! Rant over Like has already been said, cut her down to 4 small meals a day (mine are on 3 by that age but sounds like you need to keep her stomach happy until she learns to stop bolting her grub so much.) Get her on to raw food, though I'd be wary of bigger bones than a chicken wing until she settles down in case she tries to swallow them whole! plus she'll be teething at the moment: chicken wings would be great for one meal or as a something to keep her happy. Make the bulk of her food raw minced beef, a bit of chicken, a bit of tripe for a change. And the veg! (See Socks: I've got this one sussed too! ) Have a look at the pinned puppy food thread on another forum whose name means those who drift around the hedges and fields on the off chance, if you get my drift
Guest Frank
Thank you skycat. The breeder had Red mills racer in with the bread and sheeps milk. I will be breaking down the food, small portions and slowly introducing mince and chicken ect. Intresting about it wolfing the food, then going off in a quiet to throw up and eat it again. He was a greyhound trainer and breeder as well and been in the game 37 years and has some top class racers and coursing dogs, he must be doing something right? He suplements the food for the greyhounds every now and then, with beef, from a knackers. Frank.
Guest Lurcherbitch
Got to say......white bread................a no no. Edited to add, the trainers i know, do ceriel, egg, milk, mince with a bit of dry. Not all at once of course. Oh and pasta with sometimes brown bread.xx Edited May 8, 2007 by Lurcherbitch
Guest SJM
Is the pup quite skinny looking in general? and does it whine or sit and look hunched up or miserable just prior to regurgitating its food? If the answer to the above questions are yes and it chucks up every meal you give it, worst case scenario is it could have megaesophagus. I had a pup in a bull cross litter that had this and I had to have it put to sleep The pup couldnt digest its food properly and kept losing weight. It would cower in the corner while the other pups were eating and it would whine and shiver then regurgitate its food. Megaesophagus isnt apparent until weaning time, I first noticed it in this pup when it was about 3 weeks I spotted something wasnt up but as I had never seen it in a pup before, I just thought that it had eaten too much too fast (as young pups often do) and that was the reason for it being sick. But as I watched it at every mealtime, the same thing kept happening over and over and I decided it needed the vet as it was losing weight instead of gaining it Hopefully its not that though, and its just a case of your pup is reacting to a change of diet and a new home. I would cut out all the milk shite, pups dont need milk other than their mothers, once they are on solid food and have left their mothers, they dont need to regress backwards and have milk again. Feeding raw usually helps settle a pups stomach as unlike commercial dog foods, most stomachs will accept raw food and there should be very little digestive upset compared with if you tried to change from one brand to another. Also have a look around the garden/run or wherever the pup is kept and make sure its not eating anything that might be upsetting its stomach ie plants, shrubs etc. Keep us posted
Guest Frank
Thanks folks. The pup is doing none of those things SJM, thank god and has kept her breakfast down. I do reckon, i was trying to get her onto raw too quick, as she was not use to it. I will keep an eye on her and try and slowly get her onto meat ect. Cheers, Frank.
