Think you can trust some one think again.I HAVE

Recommended Posts

Hi folks, thought i would tell you about my experience of how wrong you can be, i have known a chap in my local area for some time now and he had a problem with a few fury pests and was thinking of getting him self an air rifle to remove the pests, so after chatting about the problem for a bit i decided that the problem was to close to his house for my liking as he mentioned about me removing the pests so i thought i would do a fellow shooter a faver and decided out of good will to lend him one of my much loved and cared for air rifles.

The chap was pleased when i told him this and i took the rifle round a rew days later i explained how to use the rifle cocking and loading and told him the trigger was very light so be care full i tried to explain how to use the sights (opensights) and he told me he knew as he was a shot gun shooter and had trophys for this i said okay i dont want to teach you how to suck eggs.

I explained i was happy to lend him the rifle all i asked was a couple of things please.

one you dont dry fire the rifle

and

Two if you drop it please tell me.so i can get it checked.

I then left feeling confident, i had left my much loved rifle in good hands.

A few weeks had passed and i decided to collect my rifle and see if my good deed had payed of and the pests was removed, i knocked on the door and was invited in where i was told the chap had trouble with the safety catch to be honest i was a little shocked as i checked the rifle before lending then i was told some one else had tried the safety catch, which i was not to happy about but thought okay i said okay ill take the rifle back and have a look and if you still need the rifle i will bring it back.

I was then passed back my rifle It was at this moment i knew imedialty something was wrong soon as the rifle was passed to me i felt the whole thing rattle i was a little taken back and realised all was not what it seemed i got home and looked at the rifle first by opening the pellet tap to make sure it was clear then i cocked the rifle and i was horrified the rifle had been half cocked on the ratchet and left i was not happy. then the next thing was the stock screws was not even in the metal work to secure the rifle at the front the screw at the back was as loose as hell i was disgusted that some one had taken my rifle to bits and not put it back to together correctly and not even told me it had been to bits i told my girlfriend as her mouth fell oopen when i cocked the rifle that i will not be lending it to them agian that trust you think you have with other people and lending them things has just gone for me it is okay but at the end of the day trust is everyhing.not now why is it people have to fiddle they are not content is leaving it alone and handing it back.IVE NOW LEARNT MY LESSON MY RIFLES STAY WITH ME THERE IS ONLY 4 PEOPLE I TRUST WITH MY GUNS ME MY SONS AND ME DAD, good will doesnt always pay.

That is some bad news open season. Personally the only time i would lend my gun is if I was there.

It does make you angry because if I ever borrow anything then I make sure it goes back in the same

condition.

A lesson is learned though....once bitten,twice shy!!

Im a bit strange with my kit no matter what it is, I wouldnt lend anything i own no matter how long iv known them. Im even reluctant to pass my rifle to someone when they want to look at it. Its still my responsability the very second it leaves my hand and if they drop it no sooner as iv past them it then i simply shouldnt have passed it to them. Thats the way i look at it anyway. It saves them the embarrasment of dropping it and the having to lie through there teeth and making an out and out fool of themselves, and it would save me that horrible sickly feeling i know i would get the second i know mypride and joy was damaged :bad:

Sorry to here your BAD NEWS.. hope its resolved and fixed soon.

Marty.

hi Lads just read your posts thanks for the support guys lads your right once bitten is the right saying for me never again luckly ive stripped the rifle and checked it nothing is wrong with the safety as i already knew before i lent it out your right though guys i cant believe they tried to hide messing with my rifle as some of you mentioned im the same i like to give things back in the same condition as they was lent to me.to be honest i was worried the thread was damaged in to the front of the stock for the stock screw but i was well pleased when it was okay thank god the rifle is now back in my room safe and sound. cleaned and wrapped in cloth.its been fired and fired over and over again to test.lending any of my rifles will never happen again.

Thanks again lads for the support much appreciated

As for him paying any bill for repairs you lads are probably right after his dishonesty i cant see it my self.
