A long range wood pigeon for the regulars in the air gun section

Hi lads,

After reading some of the recent posts in regards to longer range hunting and shooting with a sub 12 ft / lb air rifle I decided to try and film some footage today with the .22 calibre Edgar Brothers XVI if the chance arose.

I seem to get the impression from reading between the lines that a lot of people seem to think that its only a .177 calibre that is capable of accurately shooting at max ranges so I decided to show you what a .22 is also capable of doing.

Here is a long range shot that I deliberatively took today from the kneeling unsupported position at a woody with the .22 calibre XVI.

The pigeon was hit very cleanly in the back of its head sending head and neck feathers everywhere striking the brain perfectly and dispatching the bird before it fell from its branch.

It just goes to show that there are other not so well known rifles out on the market like the XVI that are capable of making clean max range shots easily if matched with the correct pellet and used with a well calibrated scope in the right conditions.

I hope you enjoy.

Si.

True Phil,

But I think the airgun magazines have a lot to do with that one.

I've just added this morning a woody at 67 yards and a woody at 47 yards all on camera with the same .22 rifle.

2 shots and 2 clean kills.
