This is all about what the breed was created for ,which was to work fox in the ground,the Parson Jack Russell did not create this breed to hunt rabbits and them being bred as rabbiting dogs is not doing the breed any good,no different than what show people have done with working dogs,if a jack russell is not working fox in the ground it is not a proper jack russell and should not be bred from to create a substandard type of the breed.

 

One good thing Plummer done was take breeds with different attributes to come up with a bushing dog ,so if your looking to breed bushing terriers use plummers

Ive never read such shit we who uses Jack Russells for rabbits are not doing the breed any favours the same can be said about lurchers they was bred by poachers for poachers to put food on the table not fox hunting fox with a lurcher is not a lurcher breeding them for fox is not doing the breed any favours we uses jack russells cuz they got a lot to offer us in the field not how or who bred them.

i use a couple of jack russells for bushing my self but i wouldn't breed from them because they are not up to the standard a jack russell should be.

 

I have a bitch here ,she is 12 now,i bred her to another bushing russell type dog a few years ago she had 2 pups one i gave to a friend and kept 1 for bushing with the whippets and lurchers but when he bushed his 1st fox and the lurcher ran it to ground in a rabbit burrow he was straight in after and i ended up having to ring a lad and come up with tools to get him out and he turned out to be one of the best little fox dogs i ever had ,but he was not worthy of breeding from because if you bred him to a digging bitch to produce digging terriers the back breeding could of came through and end up with a litter of bushers or if bred to a bushing bitch they could throw his attributes and become ground dogs or dogs that went to ground on rabbits.

 

and as for lurchers they are a type of dog not a breed so they are bred according to what they hunt

Firstly the dog in question is hardly marked up he took a few hits after being to ground in a difficult spot that I have seen a few dogs fail to find in ...the day that pic was taken 2 dogs never found after charlie was put to ground by hounds the dog in question pushed on in some tight spots and eventually bolting his quarry after more than an hour and the pic was put up not to be hard or cool but to show the lad I dont need his granny russel
