robwelsh 354 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Share Posted March 31, 2012 I was reading on daystate owners forum that the skirts are just to be fussy etc and doesn't really matter and quoted from some top shooter, I can't recall his name ..but pointed out that unless the head is damaged he doesn't bin the pellet , soft pellets skirts will puff out once the pressure from the gun is released behind it...sort of makes sense though doesn't it? I don't know what you lot call damaged..could be diff to me, but all the pellets I used to throw I now shoot unless the skirt is completely flat obviously Lol Quote Link to post

Metalman2 45 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Share Posted March 31, 2012 I get AA Fields (.22) from BAR 15 tins with no problem, they arrive well packaged. The same with JSB's only more tins. My shooting buddy got some AA's from Sportsman, and half the tin was rubbish, i think it's a lot to do with what happens in transit, Quote Link to post
matt_hooks 188 Posted March 31, 2012 Report Share Posted March 31, 2012 Crossman make Accupel. I like the RWS superdome if you can get them. I find the crossman pellets are very hard, and hence don't damage as easily as the softer pellets. Also the AA pellets have a thin skirt. The thin, soft skirt will obturate more readily when pressure is applied, forming a better seal with the barrel and in theory at least giving better velocity and stabilisation. A deformed pellet is unlikely to allow pressure to build up sufficiently to allow the pellet to be pushed into the grooves of the rifling, and so is likely to shoot to a different, and unpredictable, point of impact. slugger8770 0 Posted April 1, 2012 Author Report Share Posted April 1, 2012 It would be okay if you could get the damaged pellets into the mag properly but if you have to try to reshape the skirt before they will fit into the mag then it seems alot of messing before a shot is fired. Skot Ruthless Teale 1,701 Posted April 1, 2012 Report Share Posted April 1, 2012 i have 2 tins of aa at the min on the sticker under one tin it says 14 ... 7.9.2011 .. 4,52 s0 00 other tin 17 ... 28.07.2010 ..4,51 s0 76 im guessing this relates to batch number, date produced, head size and then some other serial number thing the picture of the pellets on front of the tin where it says diabolo field-- on the 4,52 tin looks brighter i dont know if this makes a difference but what i will say is the 4,51's had 1 out of 20 pellets (randomly picked) that was ever so slightly bent skirt.. whereas the 4,52 had 14/20 really bent ones o.O godknows!!! haha Quote Link to post
