Guest Ditch_Shitter
$1,600 ? What's that for; The Original? F*ck me! I'd pay that! I've got a painting of some old Gin Traps here, by a rather less well known artist than bloody Landseer; Payed three and a half ton for that! $1600, at todays exchange rate's only about the eight ton mark, mate! F*ckin hell, there's enough people paying a hell of a lot more for bloody air rifles! In fact, I probably own several traps worth more than eight ton a piece! Where'd ye see that then? Just out of interest ... Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
I take it you don't use the £800 traps!!! well you know what to do, sell a trap and buy a Landseer! I found it in a gallery I'd love to visit one day, although it's in North America!! Dedicated to Nineteenth and Twentieth century dog art, it's got the usual Pug with an attitude and West highland with a perm but it's got some really nice paintings including a nice Bulldog by Aistrop and Pair of bullmastiffs by the aptly named Wright Barker. It's called The William Secord Gallery it's got a brilliant website, easy to use, with info on all the Artists and Paintings, well worth a look. www.dogpainting.com They've got both Alpine Mastiffs by Landseer for sale, one's an Etching ($3,400) http://www.dogpainting.com/art_detail.cfm?...e_Number=EL00_1 And the other is an engraving ($1,600) http://www.dogpainting.com/art_detail.cfm?..._Number=EL00_12 Quote Link to post
Guest Ditch_Shitter
Oh yes! Now, it's the Etching I like. That's the representation I saw before and was working on. Find the right sort of girl, eh? Invite her home to see ye etching! Make a bloody impression, that would! I'll have to have a little mouch through that place myself later on. I love old depictions of Dogs myself too Use 800 quid traps? No. Not personally. Though I do have a few here worth well in excess of 800 which I'd be perfectly entitled to use, even under your Spring Traps Approval Orders. Something to think about, eh? Quote Link to post
bullmastiff 615
You can see the potential, just imagine the class of women you could get with "Would you like to come back to my cottage in the country and peruse My landseer collection?" opposed to "Fancy having a look at some traps in my shed?" Once lulled into your home with offering's of etching's she would see the plight of the poor freeholder and his lonesome donkey and goat then fall in love with the rough and ready Ditchshitter that we all know. A refined Lady like that would almost certainly love dogs, more than likely come with her own money and your infamous water closet that is your namesake would be 'quaint!' All this just from an etching done in the 1800's by a poor scot's lad -not to bad!!! Quote Link to post
