who prefers what

that may be the case,,, but im always supriced to here the amount of people that think purpose bred coursing dogs cant do the same,, ive got mates that run the fens,, with there coursing dogs,,, but also catch hares in the dales,, on the tightest of land..

but lets be honest here with yourselfs,,,, who wants to see a hare snatched in up in 10 seconds,,, i cant belive anyone on here would want to see that,,

maybe when there isnt 10 guys standing round the field hushing the hare back towards the dogs there maybe a diffrent outcome :hmm:

depends how you look at it,, if your mooching about looking for stuff for the pot,,, then fair enough ,wham bang thank you .   but in all honesty thats not testing your dog,, nor is it giving it a w

In todays hunting climate, I'd say you need to be "in & out" as quck as possible ! Dogs that take 3,4, 5 + minutes on a hare have never been my type of dog !!   Cheers.

same as i just watched a few on youtube and they were so long chasing i got bored

is that what you guys do??? maybee thats why your catching them so quik

ive never been out on the fens with any groupe of lads that do that kind of thing,, in fact quite the opposit,, lads stand still and let there hare go buy.

but if thats your thing then carry on

its a sad state of afairs all this bickering on sites especialy about saluki's,,..,, there seems to be a huge majority of haters that for some reason think saluki's are slow  genrelising most couring dogs are faster than collie greys.. think that goes without saying....... look at the last thread by kittle rox ..... all it proves to me is,,, you lot aint got a clue.

there are coursing dogs out there that can bang puss over double quik on tight ground, as i said befor, i know lads that live near the dales, and go there local to run them just to get the dogs fit,,, but they will all tel you,,, theres no challange,,, to test the dogs properly they go east,,,, do you think if there were testing hares local to them they would feck around, driving 3 hours each way and spending a woner on dielsel..

now i like collie types, got 2 hear with collie in them,,,, but dont be so blinkered you lot,,

think your bang on there tomo i have ran dogs on the fens which on any given day would kill on small fields round cheshire and they did i allways say i like a fast dog that can run slow and i have seen most coursing vids never seen hares being pushed back in the field by ten lads atb troter

My own saluki types will kill hares in under 30 seconds...... If the hare will let it! But some just don't wanna be killed! I've been out with over a dozen dogs, each running 3 or 4 each and the total bag been 4 hares! Then on other days I've seen one dog kill 5. But when the hares are fit, and now the land they are running, your non saluki speed merchant will be shown up.

there is one place for salukis and thats the bottom of a river somewhere every single one is pure bred shit. i have saw a couple of these dvds and i can say in one of them i did see a few folk around the field putting the hare back at the dog when the dog is completely beaten

a thread like this is always going to start a argument

how come everyone who thinks fen coursing they autoamtically presume saluki.. most salukis nowadays are not a patch on todays purpose bred coursing dog whats been bred for over 40 yrs. yes with sometimes pure. fens doesnt mean saluki its about teh british coursing dog. just enjoy your sport what ever it is.
