New Run

Not having a go but I was told not to leave a labrador by itself being a pack animal. 2 would be ok but not one? Will the dog live in there all the time? i.e at night or is it just for the day time?

Looks a lovely run though mate, and like I say not having a pop at all just curious as I am looking at this myself

Hello

Not a bother

The longest the dog will be by itself will be roughly four hours by the time my lass is back from work.

I also made my garden dog proof so it will have the run/garden and will be sleeping in the kennel part of the run on a shelf off the floor ( keeps the draft from the pop hole off them)

I know a couple of lads who have a single lab by itself and they haven't had any issues; I've been told its routine that keeps them happy.

Although I’m sure everyone has their own verdict

Just for abit more info, at what age are you hoping to start leaving the dog outside?

8 weeks....................or whenever you get it.

Thanks Lab,My dog will be inside at nightimes but whilst we are both out at work I think it will be good so the dog to be outside (if not just to save it chewing the house to pieces!)

That is your choice to do so and if thats what you are happy with then crack on mate. What i would say is this....introduce your dog to the kennel when you are at home in the beginning until it gets used to being alone. To many people keep them in the house and then throw them in the kennel, go to work and are unaware that the dog is howling the place down all day. A sure way to fall out with any neighbours you may have...

I'd push you too make the dog live in the kennel and if you must let it in the house as some kind of treat then i wouldn't do it too often. You'll soon realise that a kenneled dog is alot easier to keep than one that lives in the house. It wont hate you if you put it in the kennel.....

ATB...

what the dog dos,nt know about it wont miss so just keep it outside can,t understand why folks get upset when i tell them i don't allow the dogs in the house to me it's just one less thing to confuse a pup with let it have its own space and it will settle down .Do you have a dog box in the shed or is the shed the kennel if its in a box its warmer for the dog.

Thats good advice mate, i would also suggest getting the pup when you have a few days off work so you can leave it for short periods of time then build it up.
