motoade 4
Honestly mate you gotta keep at it, it took 8months to get it fully sorted with our fella, seems to take a while with parts, had stb,s up until now and they were easy to train in comparison, don't give up the dog, they are worth any amount of effort cause they are the best when sorted. s.e.s.k.u 1,893
i think Pernod has hit the nail on the head ! mine are kenneled outside now but have had pups in the house before and used a crate in the kitchen as soon as they took a drink id take her outside play with her/him and when they did the business loads of praise/treat , they soon get the jist of it. if you watch the pup closely you should be able to tell when they are going to piss/crap. dont give up at the first hurdle atb sesku Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
every time it wakes up,every time its fed and everytime its sniffing round excitedly,TAKE not put the dog outside, stay with it but ignore it ,you may be stood there 30 mins or more, but wait, when it pees or craps make a fuss of it THEN let it follow you back into the house.STOP putting paper down for it.you need to do this day in day out,you will definetly see results if you stick at it dave Quote Link to post
Glyn..... 5,208
firstly you should bought a book about dogs before getting a dog, you've been given some good advise, also a dogs is not fully incontrol of its bladder until 4-5 months old, just keep taking it out and wait if you don't have time stick outside or maybe find it a new home Quote Link to post
willum 89
Have you tried putting a small off cut of carpet out side n praise her of she uses it outside ? After getting her used to it then eventually remove over a period of time once she's used to going out side 1 Quote Link to post
northern lad 2,292
personally i wouldnt put carpet down outside, the pup needs to disassociate peeing and carpets .take it outside and stay with it till its peed then fuss/take it back in .i know its a ballache standing outside for hours ,but its part of dog ownership that must be done.my staff bitch was 6 weeks old when i got her,100% clean in house in 10 days.im definetly no expert and never criticise other peoples methods, just telling you how i do it,and it works for me.you owe it to the dog to do your best for it,your effort will be paid back tenfold.be patient, dont lose heart (or temper)and above all be consistent, good luck, dave Quote Link to post
christian71 3,187
Having loadsa bother with a patt pupp, 13/14 weeks tried everything with the paper training carry on and now she can be out shes openly in and out all the time so can use the garden for toilet anytime. But prefers to use my carpets and rugs. She understands its wrong as everytime i come near her after shes done it she hides and squirms away. Ive give her treats for going outside and negative for inside and she still wants to piss on my mats. About had my fill now and gonna give her up before long. Any advice? What about dumping it out side a dogs home or the rspa, leave it till late at night. Oh and tie it with a bit of rope, dont let the have the lead, you might get another next week Quote Link to post
BIGLURKS 874
I can only give my experience with dogs in house training some dogs take alot longer then others is what I'll point out I had 1 lab that had too leave the garden too take a piss and my lurchers got the jist of things in 2 weeks a cocker that took a week and 2 patxlakie are now 3 month old and for no god amount of praise made a dif and water pistols I used never made a dif they are the most stubborn little gits I've ever met so now they are in kennels so I don't no if it's a patterdale thing but I'd try some odour removers and what kind of diet is it on cos I did find if on biscuits they drank alot more and pissed more then when I put them on meat Quote Link to post
Marvin 193
My patxlakie still has the odd accident but mostly if i havent read his signals properly, other than that i would say he is a good 90 odd% there with it, its took a while i agree but as others on here have said, maybe its a thing with this cross.
