Elmer_Fudd 28
Tanican, Hello mate, nice word there and yeah Si is a top bloke as is Davy. The insight would be that, providing you and you rifle are capable, more the shooter.. Shots a very long distance are achievable. Providing that the conditions and shooting principles are followed it is very reasonable to shoot very long distance and not feel or worry about not delivering a humane kill shot. The distance I talk of are long, I would not like to say how far as without seeing it it would just provoke controversy but I witnessed some shooting that was top class. Also the importance of having the rifle set properly and also the false wind principle helped lots. Tony, Nice to see your taking out new blood as Si and Davy did for me, the experience and knowledge from you guys is key in my opinion. Yes, rat shooting is fast and furious certainly made me happy shooting the long tails haha. I should be at the meet mate, there to meet some more people and maybe do some shooting it I feel I am up to it by then. (hate to look silly haha) Gaz Quote Link to post

Tanican 24
Thank Gaz for finding time to reply to my question. I thought it would have been something along those lines of what Si and Davy demonstrated for you. I have read from others on this forum including heard personally from some gentlemen who used to serve within the military with Si from my local public house state what a good shot Si is especially with a military rifle. I know he as won many medals for shooting with a military weapon and against other nations army’s as well. Credit due where credit deserved I say. I also agree with what you wrote about people sometimes being sceptical of something that isn’t always classed as the normal if they havent witnessed it with their own eyes first. This is just the case here with a couple of gentlemen in Si and Davy that have obviously taken their shooting and hunting skills to the next level, a level higher than what the majority of us shooters do. It’s a real shame though when these sorts of achievements can’t be posted in the open forum for all of us to aspire too due to fear of provoking controversy and a long debate. Thanks again Tanican. Thanks again Tanican. hi Tanican its not that they cant be posted, its we choose not too, simply because of the shit you get from the people who cant achieve it,or choose to not believe it,IMHO. I have shot with many on this forum, and all are capable of taking the same shots,ONCE THE CONDITIONS ARE RIGHT!! and i do believe that there are only 2 members of this Air gun section who have entered the "100% long range club, night shoot!!" which at the next meet, I am sure there will be a few more members? who knows lets hope we get some really still days this summer, and I may show some ??? but then if you turn up to the June meet, you will be able to see for your self regards Davy 1 Quote Link to post

Tanican 24
I totally agree with your justification there sir. It would be nice though to see some of the shots you do at long range, either on targets or vermin if this is a normal occurance for you in the right weather conditions. What is this about the long range night shoot sir and who are the 2 members that have entered this? I watched your very good YouTube channel VerminHuntersTV and saw the long shot that Si did over 60 yards on a rabbit with a NV camera showing the cross hairs and the hold over he applied to kill that bunny, surely thats long range especially at night isnt it? Tanican. Edited March 27, 2012 by Tanican Quote Link to post

Elmer_Fudd 28
We now now the secret haha.. looked at the secret meet site on Google earth looks good haha . I would like to see the true capabilities of both you and Si shows on this forum, just to show the real attachments which can be made. However I do take on board the issues of posting such material, with people who seek to cause trouble or are jealous. Gaz Quote Link to post
zini 1,939
Blimey this thread as moved on since I read it last. Tanican who as been talking to you that I served with mate? Remember that stories get blown out of context especially where soldiers and beer are involved. I have won medals but many years ago in Germany and in Bosnia when i was a young pup. Mindya I am representing the new work regiment in May in shooting in a comp that I'm hoping to hold my own in. Thanks for the vote of confidence Davy on the long range shooting. Hi Gaz, if you get a r10 in .177 I'm sure it will be brilliant mate. You going to stick a Twink on it? I ordered one of them scopes today we spoke about, Davy did aswell. Just been reading up on them via various reviews and they sound spot on for our needs. Si. Edited March 27, 2012 by zini Quote Link to post

Phantom 631
Long range Not a problem for some, Si and Davy are both very good shooters, Darryl (if I remember correctly) smashed a small chicken egg at 100 yards at the last meet In fact there were a couple who did it were there not? If that had been a bunny, it would indeed be dead my 10.5 ft/lbs springer is capable of delivering a pellet over 400 yards! Not that any of us would try that on quarry like! (don't think anyone (even the div's) are that stupid). As Davy mentioned people who can pull of long range kills are slated by those who can't or those who have read the "Word of Law" that the rags preach, telling us that 35 yards is max!
