I had this on more then one occasion as one of my old dogs use to open them how dont no but I use to get them back quite quickly. I would try the above as well. I dont know what environment you live but I have found in the country side they dont go to far to start with and are normally easer to find in the day time look at your local fields for any rabbits setting out on the edges of hedge rows that would not normally be out I not talking 1 or 2 more like 5 or 6 when you approach they will normally run down the hedge a bit more instead of going in to it if you see this there is a good chance your ferret is around that spot keep a rabbit with you that is split open or some thing a bit smell cat food works quite well and shake it down some holes in that area keep eyes open to good luck if you dont have her back all ready O just try this around your shed to you never know. If she a bit shi may not come out to quick.

I had one I lost in the field could not dig it out left trap and nothing it was spotted a month later living in a chicken shed the bloke did not mind as it was taking the rats and rabbits out and leaving the chickens alone so i left it there he feed it as well it stayed there for another 2 months and came home and got into the ferret run the girls were in season the ferret had travelled from where i lost it just over a mile over 3 month in total and about 1/2 mile from where it was living in the chicken shed. It is now one of my best working hobs. I live in a rural area and most of the land I have permission to hunt over so the ferret was never in danger of being any where I could not go I am the only person with working ferrets around my way and I am know by most so I can get up dates quite easily so know real chance of losing one around here unless a predator got him and that would have to be a fox or large cat as he is a very big boy weighing in at 4.7lb.

It was only a few days prior to losing my ferret that I court a male hob a big boy trying to get into my Jill's he was as strong as an ox and very wild I though of trying to tame him down but decided because of not needing a hob I let him go at the local golf coure were they are having probs with to many rabbits,he was well capable of looking after himself.
