Jonezy 7
Found one on him today, and after giving him a really good check i discoverd over 100 on him never seen nothing like this in my entire life i removed as many as i could with this tool i got from vets for ticks, after that i got some treatment for him but it takes 48hrs to kick in. They ticks where REALLY small this is why i didn't notice it and thought it was a scab from when he got bit playing with the other ferret! Once checked properly he was COVERD with them if this treatment doesnt get rid of them ill have to remove some my self and then buy some more treatment from vets. Poor cun't must have been in pain all these ticks sucking his blood bet it hurts like mad and in the head as well! I Feel so bad and kinda blame my self for not noticing this earlier! Be carefull and make sure you check your ferret properly like i had to because once they breed they spread like wildfire! Quote Link to post

happyferret123 13
If they are small then they can't have been on him for long, as the longer they stay on they en-gorge with blood and swell bigger. I always find the problem is the eggs stay inside the wood of the hutch and so soon as you think you have removed them all from your ferret they are back again, so make sure you really scrub the hutch with something strong to get rid of them. I let someone look after my ferret for a couple of weeks and he got covered in ticks and I sprayed him in frontline spray but didn't remove all of the ones around his eyes and face as not safe to spray there face. so its easier to pull them out just do it when they have just woken up so they are slow and sleepy. rob190364 2,594
I've bought hay from Tesco three times for bedding and every time both ferrets have had three or four ticks on them, never get it when I get hay from anywhere else. F'ckin horrible things!!! my jill gets quite badly affected by them, she looks proper down and when I remove them she perks up almost instantly, god knows how your poor f'cker must have felt with all them on him!!
