porkycrook 466
Hi Gang, I was wondering if anybody else has had this problem or knows of a fix for it. I have a Hawke 3-9x50 AO scope and the magnification ring is very stiff to operate its so stiff that i have to take off a glove to get a proper grip. The scope is now six months old, although i bought the gun set-up second hand the gent i bought it from looked after it very well so dont think he would have caused it. Hope someone can help because i can't afford a new scope. Cheers ATVB Roger Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
they do tend to be a little stiff on the hawkes i remember the same prob with the scope on my hmr... a 10x40 target model, use a little silicone grease, sparingly, and it'll normally work, Snap. Quote Link to post
porkycrook 466
Thankyou SNAP SHOT for the input but i have already tried WD40, 3in1, Silicone spray and even tried spit lol. Excuse my question SNAP SHOT would you know how the scope comes apart if it can? I have read that the scopes are filled with a special gas that stops fogging. Quote Link to post
SNAP SHOT 194
Do not attempt to open the scope up as they are filled with nitrogen to stop fogging, wd40 is a no go with scopes, and i suggest if this didnt work with the silicone then take it to a local rfd to look at. Quote Link to post
