introducing rats

Recommended Posts

Mine knows the difference between things that could bite and thiings that dont, so rabbits are just paraded around and brought in alive, and rats etc, shaken to feck as soon as he gets hold of them.

If you really need your dog to be soft mouthed on bunnys, i'd ensure she has had plenty of 'em and really knows her game before trying her on the rats. Ideation is right, most dogs know the score on what bites back and adjust their game accordingly but it can be a bit confusing for a youngster. Most dogs take to rats and the cut and thrust of a good 'ol rat hunt gets any dogs blood up, so you can try at any time, just make sure your dog is well wed to her bunny task first.
