Born Hunter 17,751
Not something that'll effect me too much, I don't drink or smoke. I do use a fair bit of diesel though. Meh.... life goes on, shit times so what do folks expect. Max, putting uni fees up wont stop anyone going to uni other than the dossing chancers that do micky mouse degrees to spend 3-5 years getting shit faced and come out with a shite degree to get a shite job. No matter what background you're from, it's grades that matter. On a cheerier subject, traditional pubs are few and far between but they're worth our support. The only local one I know of is a proper countrymans pub. Nothing like a few of us taking a mooch up to the next village with a couple of spaniels and lurcher in tow for a sociable drink on a Sunday afternoon. BH i agree with Uni Fees for those looking for a cop out on worthless degrees being stopped. But there are BRIGHT working class kids who cant afford the education they Deserve and thats just how those at the top want it. Keep the working class WORKING and paying taxes to keep them in the manor they are used to. Why can't they? I graduated in July 09 and was the first year of students to have the 3k/year fees. My folks didn't help me out financially and I had no savings. Go to uni to do a worthwhile degree and it does not matter what background you come from. Grades, graft and good decisions matter. No one is being stopped going to uni, only difference is now people are weighing up whether it's worth doing the micky mouse degree they wanted to do to end up with no better job prospectives and at least 30k in debt.... which is a good thing. Nik_B 3,790
It's worse for parents on more money to be honest. I know this might sound odd but a child from a lower income family will get a full maintenance loan plus possibly a bursary as well. We will have to pay 3 grand a year to help with the living costs of our daughter. Without sounding tight why shouldn't she be able to borrow the full maintenance loan as well? We are being forced to contribute money we can't afford. This budget has been a big kick in the nuts for the so called middle classes as all budgets are.

I've been self employed myself so know the craic, but don't expect people to believe your doing so from some sort of moral standpoint. You're doing it for the same reasons as everybody does - to keep more of your hard earned money in your own fecking pocket!
PlasticJock 539
What is the general consensus on Child Benefits? Personally I would scrap them - why should all taxpayers contribute to some of the population to breed? If you can't afford kids then you shouldn't have them. No one pays for me to feed my dogs so why should i pay for other people to feed their offspring? I didn't even consider child benefit when we decided to have a kid, funny how every problem with this world is tied in some way to overpopulation I don't expect anything from the government, but seeing as my belt is getting tighter every minute and it's on the table, I'll take it.
