putting up with a no good dog

well alot of mixed thoughts on this one then and alot of people who do put up with no good dogs by the looks it seems ive manage to get people thinking again

a dog is for life ? if its put the work in over the years then it can stay yes, otherwise its going for a long walk in the bottom field or someone else can try and make it right

my mate got a dog thats no good never has been hes had it 3 yrs and it killed 3 rabbits and a mouse i keep telling him sell it and get somthing worth keeping but he says he get better hes ok ,truth is the dogs a joke but its come to my attention that alot of people put up with shite dogs because they become attached to them or they atually think there good . me personally i have give away better dogs anyway

 

would you lot put up with a bad dog ?

What the f**k you on about, I hope you dont keep dogs, the the second best bit of advice I have heard on here, the first was to wrap a lure in barbed wire to stop the dog becoming hard mouthed. :bad:

do you know me cus i havent got dogs and i havent a clue on anything about dogs and whats wrong with wrapping a lure in barbed wire and how did ireland get on the week end in the rugby. i can see your a top man with top dogs. make me laugh all the ejits who think im serious . im a messer , know if a man was unhappy with there dukel ffs what is the most logical thing to do? no ifs or buts your first thing you do is spade or castrate if you cant make a decision. your next decision is have i gave this dukel a fair crack at the whip, if the dukel has had a fair chance and really only you and the mates you hunt with can honestly decide this dukel has no potential and that you have done all you can . it leaves you then with two options , shoot it or as a pet , how more simple can it be. different dogs , different situations - if you have a family and own working dogs its not that easy to cull sometimes when you have children who are hunting with you or generally growing up with pups that dont make it.

if you can keep dogs away from family life the better but the problem is the majority of dog men cant because of security and not having the kennels away from there family enviroment. true working dogs/ hounds dont get chances they make a mistake that cant be tollerated and there shot that day and that is the way it should be and the same for dogs that dont make the grade giving a fair chance they deserve. but this is hard to do in a family enviroment understandably. you could have the best working dog in the world but if it makes the wrong choice one day then it leaves you with no choice but the inevitable. before a dog is condemed i would suggest to any one to confide in mates who have been out with you and get there opionions before any hasty decisions. half the dogs in the for sale section our from owners with no patience, if it dont do what it says on the tin its passed on.

Because surely if you were honest and said it was shit nobody would buy it and you are

telling him to sell it not give it away.

 

Or would you just fill the ad with a pack of lies and sell the dog on to some poor fecker.

 

Might make folk on this site think a bit when you next advertise a dog for sale.

To go back to the original post, I have a dog who isnt the best by far, but as we dont rely on her to feed the family does it matter. She gives me and the family lots enjoyment.

Spends most of her life with me comes to work with me, comes out most weekend mountain biking with me.

So what iam saying is depends what you expect of your Dog , or what you want.

To many people in my mind treat dogs as some kind of commodity , to be swapped or sold at a whim .

Been a lurcher owner for thirty years or more, and in that time had just four , whom i have had from pups to death, last one was seventeen .

But perhaps i am old fashion.

Just because the dogs not up to your standards, your dog might not be up to someone else's? Are you gonna get rid coz he said it's shite? Probably not if your happy with it, 3 is still relatively young for a dog, and some click early, some late and some not at all, it's up to the owner what he does and as long as he's sensible and not breed from it or sell it on as a seasoned worker, then I don't see the problem, I know it costs just as much to feed a bad dog as it does a good one but let's be honest if you can't afford to feed a dog then things must be really bad!? The saying "suits the wearer not the starer" springs to mind here

fact this is a working hunting site so i can understand when people say stuff like cull and putting up with a no hoper, some people hunt as a job and some dont, in my case mine catch far less than most every year and that suits me, we are not all the same ut the one thing that gets me is the my dogs better than yours and mine dont do that it does this, why cant we comment without spite? theres lots of people who know so much more than me but i dont belive everythink you say . anyway rant over.

I've got 2 dogs that would'nt last an day in anyone elses hands but mine. . . thats what sort of makes me want to keep em and keep trying to get the best out out what I've got and not pass them on to anyone else. . . I know they would never survive.
