      hi folks

update.. i just received a email from natural england changing there mind on the 120-2 and all similar DOUBLE SPRINGED which otherwise would be classed as clones if the 120-2 was legal.

the 120-2 is now classed as illegal so im pissed right off.. traps ive had for years now out of service.. i think they need to amend as the 120-2 is a equivalent with just a extra spring so its better in strength.. but here's the email and im waiting on a call from NE so i will update more asap when i know more.. but this email says it all.

the email is here its a exact copy and paste minus my name.

Further to my email of 11 June 2015, I have now reconsidered the position with regard to the Victor Conibear 120-2.
Under Sec 2 of the Spring Traps Approval (England) Order 2012, any spring trap which is equivalent in all relevant respects to a spring trap of a type and make specified in any entry in Column 1 of the Schedule, is approved. A spring trap is equivalent in all relevant respects to a spring trap of a type and make specified in the Schedule if it corresponds to the spring trap so specified in construction, in materials, in impact force or momentum, and in all other respects which are relevant to its effect or manner of operation as a trap.
The Victor Conibear 120-2 consists of 2 springs whereas the BMI Magnum 116consists of only one. The construction of the Victor Conibear 120-2 is therefore at variance to that of the BMI Magnum 116, which means it cannot be regarded as ‘equivalent in all relevant respects’.
      I hope this helps
      Kind regards

Ive loojed at other posts about mink on this forum and they dont seem to answer some of my questions. So yesterday we did our first pheasant shoot of the year. And as walking through a wood a beater said he spotted a mink run into a little dried up stream. This stream hasnt been running for a few years now. Do i look for a nearby pond in the woods or just set traps near to where to was spotted? Im using mk6 fenns and a kania 2000 baited with rabbit. The ponds in the wood are more like mud pools but this area is also a few hundred meters from a flowing river. Whats my best option?

I have been doing a minimum amount of work around the pheasant shoot pens over the past few weeks allowing me to get used to the surroundings and know the pen alot better.
In the process of building shelters for the arrival of some new pheasant chicks I stumbled upon 2 holes in the ground (like mole tunnels). 1 is just in a little dip on the ground and one is going into the floor next to a rock. These both are a good mile away from eachother. I dont know weather they are Stoats, Rats or Weasels but they need dealing with. I was wondering weather to smoke the holes out but as i can only find one the pest may escape. One of the game keepers suggested putting Fenn Traps outside the entrance BUT i dont know weather the nests are active and as i only know where one entrance on both nests are i am stumpt. The chicks are due soon and i need to sort this out. ANY SUGGESTIONS TO MY SITUATION WILL BE TAKEN MOST GRATEFULLY. Thanks.

      Hi all ,

The local farmer called round for a chat the other night to tell me that a few ducks had started to nest and lay eggs on the stream behind my house so i thought to myself, "lets give these ducks a good chance" , as ducks are a rare sight around here.

So friday evening i went out with the rimmie to get myself some bait , a nice buck rabbit did the job. I then went and got my live catch and set in on a nice enclosed part of the stream where there was a track going through. So baited up and covered in rushes i went about and managed two magpies ( we have a lot of these around this year).

Got up at 9 this morning and went to check the trap and i was greeted by the spine-tingling cry of the mink. A big dog mink had taken the bait and was dispatched quickly using the .22 rimfire.

So all going well i will keep you all updated on the progress of the ducks. I have undertaken this as sort of a conservation project for the area so i hope the work pays off.
