morton 5,368
did any one see the pups in cmw last week typp ratchers arri to a bitch called tilly dogs £250 bitches £350 been looking for a bitch pup but just a little bit steep for me any one know anything about this bitch or did any one buy any pups cheers Compared to the price of some of the coursing pups, they seem relatively cheap,in reality a pup will only sell for what somebody is happy to pay.Id be embarrased to have to pay those prices when with a bit of time and research i could possibly buy a superior animal for a lesser and more reasonable amount. moonlighter 1,163
Get one from a rescue place. All I'm saying is, if you ever go to a dog compound, half the dogs are lurchers. I would say there are more working black lads and spaniels in the country than there are lurchers, but you don't see that many getting passed from piller to post. If they were all about £250 /300 if would mean less shit would get bred and only the genuine owners would own them. Quote Link to post

moonlighter 1,163
But people would pay that for crap pups. Eventually only decent butchs would get bred from. It would take a while to weed out the chaff but after a while it come good. Anyway, it's all hyperfetical bollox... Quote Link to post

People are paying silly money for crap now,in an ideal world people would take their time,do some detective work, view the parents at work, look at more than one litter, make sure they have the time and resources to take a pup on and then buy a mutt. But human nature being what it is,people buy on impulse and peer worship,a bit of poetic licence from the vendor is all it takes to lure in the unsuspecting fool and his hard earned dosh. canaliculata 28
Tell you what i was recently looking for a pup and the prices some people were asking was gob smacking. Its right was has been said though, if they dont sell they soon come down. I looked at a litter of 3/4 whippet/greyhound 1/4 collies....and i would have bought one, but he wanted quite a bit more for the bitches, i haggled (like i always do, not to insult but get a fair price), but he wouldn't budge on the price...one month on he'd only sold one of the bitches. Everybody i dealt with wanted a small fortune.....most were not even keeping a pup. In the end got one for £ off a bloke who was breeding them to keep one for himself. Quote Link to post

BLONDY82 4
If you can't afford the price of a decently bred 'working' pup how would u afford the vet bills or proper care needed when accidents happen! Not saying that the more expensive the pup the better it will turn out but it's not jus the cost of the pup in the first place it's the looking after that's the real issue! Quote Link to post
