Collie lurcher lines. . . .

Recommended Posts

Millet - i want both :D Seriously though, i find myself under dogged. My ideal daytime team would be a good lurcher, along side finn, and something to push stuff out. Also i'm out with johnny a lot, and others, and as we all have runners that will work cover, no one has a dedicated cover dog.

Also, it would be handy for work on the shoot.

RM - thats a nice hound mate, any side photos?

RA - Will do now mate!

I do somewhere mate, taken on a phone, the memory card is somewhere! lol, I'll look it out.

Been watching this thread and believe some folk are not only kennel blind but believe a name is everything.....   Every line will start somewhere but where is it now and where is it going???   H

FFS too much brain and the ability to think for itself, is that considered a fault. I thought thats exactly what good lurchers do. Only my opinion of course.     Yours in sport Pernod

well to know that for shure you would have had to have seen them all work,,,have you seen don work??? no course not..   now i have seen some others work i know a very deacent david james bred anima

It's a hard job finding a non commercially bred Decent worker that's for sure. And when you have a dog it's even harder to find a suitable bitch with a owner who wants to breed!

Not at all mate, i wasn't suggesting that the ideal dog for me was just collie / grey hound mix, but a lurcher to lurcher line that was throwing collie lurcher types. If that makes sense.

Yes mate it does make sense i understand wat your saying. The line i had for years collie blood was on both sides of the breeding but tbh i think the beddy in them made a difference.

i dont have a dog at the minute, but my neighbours got a cracking working strain of border collie, came straight off the farm (her mam and dad's) and is a 4th gen that they've bred and they still have the parents.would he be any good on rabbits do you think? or too slow? i give them the odd rabbit for his dinner and they keep hinting i could take him out ferreting so im just curious

Take it out and try it, some collies are fast and others slow. Good luck with it

if you want an f1 genuin first cross, collie/grey,,, then bryn is your dog,,,,, if you want lurcher with a good chunk of collie,, then use don............simples,,, well provided either owner will let you use said dogs as a stud..

there are a few others about,,, but as they havent replyed yet,,, ile leave it at that

There are other collie based dogs on here that are as good

I tried to breed my bitch this year and used a stunning line bred saluki grey that has a fantastic temperament but again for the second time nothing I think I have to accept the fact that she is barren and will never produce a litter ..... It's a crying shame as she is a decent all round dog ..........

I had a bull Terrier, that I had mated 3 or 4 times but always missed. I ran a course of antibiotics over her season and she took. Vetdid a blood sample and it turned out she always ran an infection over her season. As Skycat has said different bitches take on different days as well
