weasle 1,119
Very short sighted to think a dog has to have its picture put up here every time it gos out to be good. 3 Quote Link to post

Guest vin
I would go and beg the lads to breed you another pup if your heart is set on what i think it is mate. Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,228
albert , i think if your after just a collie cross lurcher to lurcher breeding id look on collie curs like thats allready been said but off the top of my head look out for, typp ratcher, stuff , david james, or plumbers stuff, all collie greys with nothing els in them if thats what you want mate David James was breeding lines of collie blooded dogs without anything in 'em years back, I don't know if he's still going but someone must have taken up the mantle... As for Plummer stuff, from what I read and what i've heard, his original dogs went way back, they wern't simply Collie bred, just Lurcher to Lurcher and then he used his Merle dog amongs others and saturated the line with Collie. totally correct atb bunnys. bunnys 1,228
agood line of lurcher lurcher say colllie base , can benefit from a f1 of the same type . this will keep the line strong , and hold the traits required in the welps . atb bunnys. Quote Link to post
chilly 59
If it seems so insatiable difficult to find a good line off collie based lurchers from a long line of worker to worker it would seem the next logical thing to do would be to start one , using the best collie blooded lurchers available, obviously this is much easier said than done, but given the interest and demand for dogs bred in this fashion and the obvious glut of collie blooded dogs out there that are supposedly doing the job well, then theoretical then this shouldn't be so difficult , and given the modern day advancements making it so easy to contact and stay in contact with people from any part of the country oppose to say 30 years ago this task should be that much more easy but sadly isn't. i think it would only take a handful of close knit, good dog men a small number of years to produce some thing close to it sure ally , but think that combination of dog men would be as important as the lurcher's used Quote Link to post
Ideation 8,216
I deleted a lengthy post. But in short it said - some good posts, and yes i could start a line, but i'd like my ideal dog before i'm 60. And i'm not suggesting that you need to post on here or stick up lots of photos in order to have a decent mutt or line.. . . . . But other than me knowing / meeting them, how else am i meant to trawl for a line / pup etc? As it seems most dogs are shit, and if its a good breeding the pups are either secretly produced and given to close friends or culled. Quote Link to post
morton 5,368
I know a lad with Collie bred lurchers, non Hancock. The lad keeps a low profile and quietly go,s about his business always under the radar,he,s not one for big bags or self publicity, thats possibly the reason the last litter he bred nearly all ended up in pet homes because when they were advertised he got very little take up on them. These dogs have generations of breeding and work in them,as good as and better than some better known bred dogs.Maybe there is a market for decent bred types, this lad failed to find them. 1 Quote Link to post
bunnys 1,228
this can be the problem when one his the loner type keeping oneslf to oneself etc, pet homes or culling his sometimes the only option , ya can bet the those whelps had the minerals to become good animals ,of this type . atb bunnys.
