Millet 4,497
I will keep waiting and keep searching, and eventually come up with the ideal pup that ticks all of the boxes, it might be this summer, it might be in a couple of years time, but when it comes together it will be worth the wait! I waited over 4yr's for the right pup for me to pop up.. ..i think you already know the best place to get one if any more litter's ever come up in the future.. Quote Link to post

Guest vin
what would type of bitch would you like to mate with Bryn to get your ideal pup ? Bryns a 1st X..so what would be the ideal Bitch ? Beddy lurcher would be my choice for the type of dog for mouching and be tuff and versatile for most running ground. should make handy dogs if the bitch used was a good dog. . .must admit this subject has got me thinking. Giro 2,648
Typp Ratcher has good reputation... Collie john made some good posts about his dogs, dont think he is on line now.. Loads of collie dogs. Folk just dont shout it from the roof tops after all their "only rabbit dogs" ha ha Chipper Smith has some nice collie blooded dogs.. Had the pleasure to see "nell" in her prime. He coulkd trace his dogs back 35 odd years. Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
You can look on colliecurs as much as you like, yes they've lines of dogs on there but how many are being bred, and if they are then the pups are usually gone before they hit the floor. I spent nearly 3 years looking for a stud for my bitch, couldn't find one and then when I did it was to late. I think with "good" collie blooded dogs the owners want to protect their line so they don't get bandied about like some other breeds imo. 1 Quote Link to post

Ideation 8,216
Some interesting replies, and soe folk who obvioulsy get what i'm after, and some that don't. As good as Bryn is, and like i have said, he is a great (maybe the best) example of a 1st x collie / grey, but that's not what i am after, i'm looking for a pup, which comes from a long line of hunting dogs on both sides, that can be traced right back. There are some on here, that obviously know what dog/s i want a pup out of. But it's just nice to see if there is anything else out there that would be equivilant, and at the moment, that looks like a big fat no! As for hancocks - same as above - i want worker to worker to worker to worker . . . . . Quote Link to post
Bosun11 537
I tried to breed my bitch this year and used a stunning line bred saluki grey that has a fantastic temperament but again for the second time nothing I think I have to accept the fact that she is barren and will never produce a litter ..... It's a crying shame as she is a decent all round dog .......... Damn shame that Socks, me an a mate off here have a lot of time for that bitch of yours and look forward to any posts you put up. That cross you were looking to do sounds right, I hope if you look into it you can suss the problem and have some success. Quote Link to post

As for Plummer stuff, from what I read and what i've heard, his original dogs went way back, they wern't simply Collie bred, just Lurcher to Lurcher and then he used his Merle dog amongs others and saturated the line with Collie.
