Ideation 8,216
Just for the record, i wasn't necessarily talking of just collie/grey mix lurchers, but of collie type lurcher x lurcher bred dogs, which might have a good mix of other breeds in it. Quote Link to post
johnny boy68 11,726
Aye, you are pretty much right Rake. Vin - Bryn is probably the best 1x i have ever seen, but i wouldnt get my ideal pup from any 1x or 3/4 bred. I would rather have lurcher to lurcher with the traits i want in both parents. Aye but isn't first x mated to a 1/4 3/4 a 3/8's collie type same as gem not sure if she was mated that way but still gets same percent and Lurcher to Lurcher ??? Yes J that's how she was bred 1/2 border/grey x 3/4 grey 1/4 beardie. Quote Link to post

Think that 1/4 beardie makes all the difference, you seem to get a more robust animal, that's my view anyway lol Quote Link to post
Giro 2,648
Been watching this thread and believe some folk are not only kennel blind but believe a name is everything..... Every line will start somewhere but where is it now and where is it going??? Has it developed and improved??? Has it maintained the initial attributes that where so desired?? Is it completely diluted?? I would be looking for the best dog be it a first cross, a lurcher lurcher breeding or even a dog from unknown parents if it was truly cutting the mustard I would take a line off a poodle cross.. Poor dogs get credit because they are from a great line, dogs that you would not give a second glance get the notoriety of there litter mates however they would never come remotely close because the owners don’t get out there and test the dogs... I personally would recommend If you have your heart set on a type watch them work on their land take them to your land see what they can do... Some folk have great sales pitch for their dogs and what they can do, I would rather judge for myself... JMHO 5 Quote Link to post
