nothernlite 18,089
It's a hard job finding a non commercially bred Decent worker that's for sure. And when you have a dog it's even harder to find a suitable bitch with a owner who wants to breed! Cracking looking dog thats what a collie x should look like atb Quote Link to post
lifelong cumbrian 1,826
Not at all mate, i wasn't suggesting that the ideal dog for me was just collie / grey hound mix, but a lurcher to lurcher line that was throwing collie lurcher types. If that makes sense. Yes mate it does make sense i understand wat your saying. The line i had for years collie blood was on both sides of the breeding but tbh i think the beddy in them made a difference. ive lined my 21" 3/4 beddy whipp bitch to 5/8 3/8 collie grey 25" hopeing to get a decent bitch pup to make 23"? should make handy dogschris Keep us updated with this please mate, very interested in this cross. thanks. Cracking looking dog thats what a collie x should look like atb Possibly because he isn't a first or even second cross, but a Collie/Grey to lurcher/lurcher. Guest born to run1083
Aye, you are pretty much right Rake. Vin - Bryn is probably the best 1x i have ever seen, but i wouldnt get my ideal pup from any 1x or 3/4 bred. I would rather have lurcher to lurcher with the traits i want in both parents. Aye but isn't first x mated to a 1/4 3/4 a 3/8's collie type same as gem not sure if she was mated that way but still gets same percent and Lurcher to Lurcher ??? Quote Link to post
Guest born to run1083
Dont see the big thing about collie xs had a few when i was younger maybe a small bit of collie but not much .The collie gives them to much brain and they start thinking for there self. Thats why i went to the beddie xs still have the brain but will tackle anything you put in front of them and give you 100per cent atb my opinion only FFS too much brain and the ability to think for itself, is that considered a fault. I thought thats exactly what good lurchers do. Only my opinion of course. Yours in sport Pernod Think i wrote it wrong think for there self as in in no chasing that pick and choose there runs thats what i meant theres no need to swear atb The myth that all collie x's pick and choose there runs makes me laugh every time I read it. My advice is get out and see more run lol Ideation I think to be honest most collie x owners are the older generation, who keep them self to there self including there lines, most pups that are bred are all pre booked and off to friends so these litters never come to light so to speak. I think the litter you have in mind your struggle to find better, the old breed of Lurcher owner and line, which I think will suit you well, good luck in your search mate Quote Link to post

nothernlite 18,089
Born to run got my first lurcher was a collie greyhound 40 years ago great dog then another 3 years later cracking bitch. But as i said would make its own mind up what it wanted to do .Stuck by her then about 6 years later got a half x worse thing i done the same as the bitch but worse so ended up turning to beddie xs .In my eyes beat the colie xs hands down and i have seen plenty of colliex over the years . Was out with one 3 weeks ago andwas not impressed so as far as your silly coment goes go out and see more seen plenty and not impressed that is my opinion and you have yours lol oh your post made me laugh Edited March 19, 2012 by nothernlite Quote Link to post

bunnys 1,228
I WOIULD SAY without doubt 1quarter of collie his a plenty mixed with other breeds deerhounds salukis and yes the terier types , there his and will be the occasional that are good allrounders day and night but on the whole i believe consistently collie x on collie x when heavily based will get you yes g]biddable and good moocheras and lampers to some degree , but there his far better that can be got from them . atb bunnys. nothernlite 18,089
So what your saying bunnys is that it is only the occasional terrier type that are good allrounders.Ive had 5 out of the 5 ive had have been very good terrier type lurchers over the past 20 years from 19" to 22" that have been good at what there meant to do atb Quote Link to post
