Ausnick 190
I've been reading about people saying just buy a pup and not add anything to an already saturated market. Let's say you're breeding a litter for yourself and 3 of your mates, yet your bitch had a litter of 10 or so pups. Would you consider culling the litter down so there's only 4 of them for you and your mates? I'm keen to hear everyones opinions. Quote Link to post
BEARINATOR 2,871
I would with out a doubt, I'm having a litter this year and 1 of the conditions of using the chosen stud was culling excess pups as they aren't for everyone. I'm lucky though as I have 5 homes for pups out the litter and the 1 I'm keeping back, so 6 pups will be kept back and the rest culled 1 Quote Link to post

stoaty 171
My late uncle would just breed for himself and very close mates never sold pups and guarded his bloodlines.Would only raise a few pups on a bitch Stoaty 2 Quote Link to post

I'll not be keeping all the pups back though as they ain't for everyone, if they choose the wrong pup then it's up to them to cull it Quote Link to post

Ausnick 190
was this topic started for the anti cull brigade No it wasn't. I had a litter and only two people were interested in the pups, she had a litter of 11 and was going to struggle so I culled all bar 1 bitch and 1 dog. I didn't want pups going to owners that would treat them like shit, kick them when their down, and i didn't want any pups going to pounds. I've kept track of these pups very easily and one person could no longer keep one so i got it back and gave it to a mate that had just lost a dog. In my opinion, those people that cull are the ones that are helping our "sport" 1 Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
My backsides on the fence on this one - nobody actually likes the idea of killing innocent puppies, but personally, I'd rather a puppy was painlessly snuffed out than suffered possible mistreatment in the hands of a bad owner or go on the doggy carousel. If it has to be done, it has to be done. I couldn't do it, so I doubt very much I will breed. Atb Duncan Quote Link to post
