Gitano 17
I used to work at a snooty university's sports department (one of the two who compete in some boat race shite) and I trained with the rowing team for a bit. Very impressive athletes but I've gotta say, rowing on a machine is boring as f**k and I doubt many folk would keep it going for more than a week or so (then it gets passed onto someone else who'll use it a couple of times before putting it away in the garage or under the bed) . You'd be better off finding something you enjoy mate-and get the tucker and booze sorted out Give them their due when it comes to strength/endurance some of them snooty university boys are phenomenal athletes ! Yes, every morning at 6 am they were there, often waiting for me to open up in the winter months. Circuits, weights, time trials...whatever it was they gave it 100%. They really surprised me because the pride they had in their sporting performance seemed on a par with their academic efforts. Add the fact the heavyweights didn't ever have to starve themselves to make weight and you've got a recipe for a robust sportsman, unlike the lower weight who had a precarious balancing act between performance and making weight; painful stuff for them...but they stuck at it and didn't complain. Gotta say my respect for some silver-spoon folk went up alot after having worked there

Lab 10,979
ditch the rower and run. Do it where there are people and if you have any pride you would rather run until you spew instead of stop infront of people haha .............true, especially if there a hot chick............. Ratreeper 441
im a tree surgeon too which you would think would help.......but as im not self emplyoed any more im not getting flogged everyday doing all the big nasty shit nobody wanted, now i get to do nice easy stuff that doesnt have me shting my self so that doesnt help either Simple then, start doing some harder graft at work . I am the worst at exercise, I think your body reflects what you enjoy doing ie if you like rugby then you should make the effort. But I don't, so just wack an audio book or some decent music and walk dogs for a few hours a day. I used to go places where I can climb over rocks, run around hills etc and although I am as weak as a kitten I never put on weight despite a fry up and takeaway most days... moonlighter 1,164
2 mins of exersize is of no use what's so ever. I use the rowing machine and do 2000 m in about 6 or 7 mins. That's a good all over body warm up which should get you sweating and ready for a work out. If your only going to do rowing as a work out, then you want to be aiming for about 30 mins at a time, but at a slower pace than what I do it at.

Giro 2,648
Naa dont get fat fella.. I stopped smoking and packed 3 stone on. I was struggling with nicotine withdrawls and would just eat shit on mass. I could not stop eating and was going to start smoking again just to get back in shape lol.. Just do more exercise, eat loads of food but reduce the fat and carbs.. Curcuits are good or boxing drills.. Drink plenty water fella.. I have been off the fags about a year now. Smoking definetly effects your metabolisim, I was rake thin when I smoked and ate anything I wanted.. Still exercised then and was fairly fit but I am fitter now. Stick at it. Mickey Finn 3,055
Congratulations on quiting cigs vduben! Alot of good advice for taking the weight off already posted. Sensible diet, exercise, and consistancy are they way. What Duncan said about weights is also worth looking into. Running, assuming your knees are up to it. Seems to be the best way to shed the pounds. Good luck!
