Malt 379
I love seeing them! My elderly neighbours pond used to be heaving with them laying on top of the netting like that at my old place until he got too old to maintain it and filled it in. I offered to look after it for him but he was a grizzled old merchant seaman who was too proud to take help. It was the only pond in the estate and it used to be writhing this time of year. Wife's damn cats used to eat the stuff like tapioca then splatter the kitchen floor as they came into the flat and it ran through them.. I sank an old bath in my garden for them but they never came there in the numbers like they used to come to the pond..
dogs-n-natives 1,182
Those males look big healthy specimens... in up in Argyll, plenty frogs going about their business at present, but not with the 'gut' on them like your frogs!

I sank an old bath in my garden for them but they never came there in the numbers like they used to come to the pond.. I used to gather it up from a pond in the woods where i stay now and take it too primary school. Used to have a tank there and we could see them change into tadpoles. Used to gather up the chicweed and take it in too. The pond is overgrown now and years back the numbers started to dwindle out. Never looked in about 15-20 years to see if there are any there. Oh the good old days....
Rolfe 2
I think kids nowadays should do what we did years ago and watch the frog spawn develop into tadpoles, they would learn a lot more than sitting in front of a computer playing games thats for sure...........they never get to see the real world unless they are lucky enough to have enlightened parents.........shame really
