fieldsman 51
I have a first x in her second year she was a good dog taking 20 or so every outing on the lamp she would have taken more but due to the lack of rabbits on my bit finding more was more effort than it was worth I only take ever take 20 to 30 whatever dog I take she took 3 and 4 daytime she didnt have the stick like a sal x but was good for 2or 3 mins when properly fit she never jacked and was by far the fastest dog I have ever owned and has been the only dog that I have seen jump a 10foot dike and a five foot hedge in one she was,nt to hot on fox but would torment them until another dog got there to do it for her.She had a few matches and held her own beating dogs bred for the job.G C the owner of the Joe dog saw her run and said he was surprised how fast she was and how long she ran he said she ran like a kangaroo .Would I have another probably not she took ages to get fit after time off and,she seemed more prone to knocks and strains than any dog I,v owned and spent to much time injured mainly after lamping being so tall she seemed to struggle getting down to pick fast moving rabbits up nearly always rolling on catching this caused her to snap a tendon in her front leg and early retirement .I have good memories of her when all was going well flat out giving her day time quarry 2 or 3 hundred yards start and stinking up the field closing the gap so easily with huge strides and not over running as you would expect for such a big fast dog but sticking close and pressuring catching quickly she was quite a sight on the big flat land round here.If anyone is thinking of getting one look for a working dog not a show .I was thinking of breeding her to a small saluki but there are to many dogs out there now without adding dogs that many have no experience with and therefor no confidence and end up giving them away to be passed on and on so I didnt bother .This is my experience of this breed of dog I cannot speak for others and I have never had a pure bred dog.ATB Fieldsman Quote Link to post

Irish Lurcher 1,013
any one have any of this breed in there dogs or work one, or can shed some light on the breed|? I looked at putting one over a saulki bitch some time ago and could find nothing that was of working stock, think ya will be hard pushed to find aproper working strain, well at least that was the problem I had over here. Fella round the corner from me one and its the most dangley think I have ever seen, bad on turns and bad on running. Quote Link to post
