shepp 2,285
Another thing, these cheap HW100's out there, are they by any chance all .22? I have noticed a lot of people are going over to .177. Quote Link to post
Pink or stink 162
I just sold my R-10 to fund another rifle. In the meantime I was loaned HW100 while I made my decision on what to get. On an accuracy level they were basically the same gun, engineering & weight seperated them to a small degree. Both of them were flawless in operation, Weihrauch have and always will be at the top of the list for quality, but as someone says, all manufacturers have issues to deal with and it's this service which should be included when comparing such. Paranoid about shot consistency I tried a Hammerli and if any comparison can be made between this and the other guns mentioned (on an accuracy level) then the Hammerli wins by the slightest whisker. I miss the R-10 something rotten. Quote Link to post
Acuspell 329
Interesting thoughts Shepp. I have got rid of my .177s and am sticking with the 20 calibre as choice. A marmite calibre perhaps...I like marmite! I also don't like to follow the crowd, you tend to end up at a well known supermarket. Rapid will be just as boring as the HW100 or R10 - they all just go "phutt". The Rapid is just one of those rifles that has built a reputation over the 25 years it has been produced for being reliable, and if something goes wrong t is very easy to fix - the only there is to go wrong is rubber seals. The difference is how easy they are to get at, replace and get everything back together again - it can be done with a Leatherman in the woods! 1 Quote Link to post
ulverston moocher 60
well my hw 100 is faultless and has only ever needed a couple of new seals the gun has been worth every penny, I have owned loads of air riffles and this is the best closely followed by my old rapid17 mk1. 3 Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
There's hw100 22 for sale on Facebook...325 or 350 I think , looks like new, I didn't know whether he was taking the Piss, but darryl said both his cost 350 so he might not be Lol I thought these guns were the ones to beat but seems like a lot of people have come out and told the truth, its like every other gun..nothings perfectly made otherwise it would cost a fortune and have a life time garantee Quote Link to post

I think the thing is a lot of newcomers into the sport buy what is generally considered the best on the market. Therefore a lot get sold and a good percentage of these people decide the sport is not for them so you end up with many guns on the market. Nothing wrong with the guns, just a lot were sold originally. Still I do say for build quality and loading system alone, they are the best on the market. 2 Quote Link to post
robwelsh 354
Yeah but the r10 I seen in the mag had like gun of the year or some award like it, my mates r10 has been sent back once because pellet had been stuck in the h tube and once for a leak..then every other person recommends sending them to jb to be fettled with ,how it should of been Lol same as most pcps can be sent off to be better, things break , end of..the more you maintain it with the correct stuff the longer it lasts , some more than others Quote Link to post
