hi lads my mate whose a keen wood pigeon man calledlast night to see if i fancied a bit roost shooting so not being a man to turn down an offer the gear was in his car as quick as a flash we arrived at the wood and not a single bird to be seen ,ive seen hundreds sitting in these trees during the day so i forgave him for not doing a bit of home work 1st .any way i suggest a short trip to one of my patches and this is a mixed wood with a bit of shelter and it will always hold woodies magpies crows etc on arrival i spot a few 40 yds in and take a long shot and hit a branch and there off further along theres an "easy"one "just aim pull the trigger and its yours type of bird "" i missed ! this went on with afew shots and then when i got my "eye "in and started hitting them they decided they werent playing dead and fecked off i managed one woodie and winged a magpie [the fox will get him ] i went home wondering what the hell was all that about .just goes to show even a fairly seasoned air gunner can have an off night

At least you got a shot of bud! i went out last night for a spot of lamping on the rabbits and didnt see a thing. mind you the cloud cover moved leaving a nice bright moon so that didnt help but on the plus side me and my lad sat and watched a badger 10yrds away routing about for 10 mins it didnt seem to give a fek that we was there with a lamp on him.it made the trip worth it as its the first time my boys seen one and it was just good to get out the house for a couple of hours.
