skycat 6,173 Posted March 13, 2012 Report Share Posted March 13, 2012 I would think that the ratio would depend on the type of bone as well: take chicken wings and carcases: chickens are killed young and the bones are still soft, a lot less dense than lamb rib bones for example, and certainly less hard than lamb leg bones. I tend to feed mine about half minced meat and veg to half chicken carcases with a couple of lamb ribs thrown in. If I'm feeding minced whole rabbit, bones as well as meat with a bit of jacket left on, I reduce the amount of extra bones the dogs get, be that from chicken or lamb. I guess mine mostly get around 60-70% meat/veg with a bit of rice or oats, and 30-40% softish bones as described above. They seem to do well on that and don't crap white marbles though their crap is still very firm. Quote Link to post Share on other sites
