CorkyJohn 808
If anyone bred as many litters as these great terriermen did its a certainty they'd chuck out so many workers due to the odds. Nuttall obviously believed in his breeding if he was willing to breed of jackers but I think the money side must've become an obsession. I had one terrier of his breeding that would go in hard on fox & took alot of stick. I parted with him after 2wks, sending him back to the keeper I'd got him off after he failed & was shown up by my 11 month old pup. Good & bad in every line but why chance a pup off dubious lineage....its been said that nuttall bought in litters of blacks & sold them as his own. Bad craic if its true Quote Link to post
Glyn..... 5,208
i have some photo's of nuttall bred dogs going back some 50 years, and the type has changed a hell of a lot in that time, when i was a young un getting into the blacks the dogs to go for where Smithy/Rags(Gould) bred or Punch/Penny(Nuttall) and if you went to Llangollen show late 70's early 's you could by them, i remember Gould turning with a load of terriers a my mate bought a pup for £15 she was a good worker pissed all over the russells we had, my older mates also bought punch/penny bred stuff bloody good workers, i don't know how long ago KG stopped breeding fells but i went there in 1990 he had four fell types there Spartacus, Nettle and young red dog and a black and tan bitch about to drop pups and about 50 jack russells all for sale... Went to Nuttall last time about 12 years ago saw one bitch i liked the rest looked like tadpoles...now both these men are getting on and both liked there coin both these men have breed some grt terriers and loads of shit in there day there was a market for these new super dogs and these men helped me and many others get our hands on them.....its a different world now.....back then as a teenager walking around Llangollen show all the WORKERS pegged out on couples ....great times... banging on about these old boys is there any point they could only sell because people like me wanted to buy Edited September 13, 2012 by Glyn..... 11 Quote Link to post

Squirrel_Basher 17,100
Lads has it always been this way with BN being in it for the money, or was it different years ago? If he's always been a peddlar how ever did his name get so big? Because a fool and his money is easy parted!! He mass produced pups as did ken gould, anyone could have done what they did at that time, however ken goulds dogs have left a legacy behind them, smithy and simon can still be traced back in most consistant working lines today.......but brian nuttall has no basis or foundation in his dogs to claim the same. I've met both of these men and been their yards numerous times over the years and seen umteen dogs direct of each men, nuttall terriers have NOTHING to offer serious dog men. Dillydog I'm sure ive heard most of the obscene things done over the years and his claims to have bred this that and the other. Does make me smile when lads come on here with the big talk,Stating facts about this and that as if it were gospel . The truth is that those lads who kept his early stuff away from the shit still have handy tools in the kennel .Admittedly some were bad to kennel but the fact that they are still around and owned by some very good terriermen says it all .This is regarding the early stuff mind as todays model is very hit and miss and a far cry from yesteryear with all the stories about peddling true im afraid. He has made a bit of a fool of himself and a joke as to his breeding methods of late and most serious lads know that .The early stuff found its way into a lot of other lines, fact, so like it or not your precious little black worker owes something to the man way back .To say he had no foundation stock is utter shite .You cannot breed successive look a like, peas in a pod without foundation stock.[Early stuff] Top sum it up ,those that had the vision and dedication to keep to the bull headed, thick set, head cases that did the biz are the ones that preserved the mans early reputation but he seems to have done his utmost to shatter that in recent years . 5 Quote Link to post
