Building confidence in my jack

my little jack got bitten quite badly by a rat, which at the time made her want to get it even more at the time .

went out with he again the other day and she is still hunting then but will not go in to get the rats how can i rebuild her confidence ?

how old is she? too young to let her do it? maybe hold her back on the lead and let her watch other dogs work and kill them and when shes wanting to go then let her?.. atb tim

give her time be patient if she is young as been said let her watch others doing it she will soon forget her bite. atb sp

I agree with all the above but if she was mine i,d let her rag a couple of dead uns aswell, i,d keep her off the live uns for a month or two, ATB with her.

it happened to one of my Russell pups at 8 months old,Im not saying it will happen to yours but my dog never killed a rat again it would just yap at um,my mum has the dog now,

and yet my Pats were killing rats at 4month old and getting bit never bothered them at all,it just shows you how not all dogs progress the same and how some,even thought they come

from a working background never make the grade even as ratters

thank you for all the information, my jack is actually 6 yrs old and i did not hunt her till she was better. we are going out ratting sat so i shall be putting this all in to practice

i ALWAYS FOUND A GREAT WAY TO BUILD THERE CONFIDENCE WAS TO KEEP WHISPERING IN THERE EAR, YOU ARE THE MAN YOU ARE THE MAN DONT LET ANY BIG BAD RAT THINK HE IS BETTER THAN YOU YOU ARE THE MAN.WE WILL WORK AS A TEAM YOU ARE THE MAN WHAT DID I SAY?YOU ARE THE MAN.YOUR MAMMY AND DADDY BRED YOU FOR KILLING THESE EVIL BIG BAD RATS YOU ARE THE MAN.
