Lamps batterys amps and volts

Recommended Posts

Alritght people just a couple of questions about lamps and batterys iv got a Cluson lazer-lite with a 12V 7 amp battery if i increased the battery size to say a 14 amp one will that give me further range or just longer lamping time? Also has anyone tried the Deben sport light 210 and if they have how does it compare to the Cluson lazer-lite?

Just a longer lamping time ,i think if you want to increase the range you swap the plastic bulb holder for a metal one and it increases it from 1 million candle power to 2 million candle power . ??

If you want to make the lamp brighter you'll need to increase the battery voltage, but you then shorten the life of the bulb and make the whole lamp run much hotter.

Most 12 volt bulbs won't handle more than about 14 volts for very long before blowing

The "amp" value that you quote is actually "amp hours" so a bigger number will allow the battery to deliver a given current for a longer time. The power output is linked to the bulb resistance and the voltage of the battery.

Power is equal to voltage times current. Voltage is equal to current times resistance. Therefore power is equal to current times current times resistance.

The resistance is effectively a fixed value, and there is no way of controlling the current directly. The only way to change the power output for a given bulb is to change the voltage of the power supply.

Practically, for a given lamp, there's no real way of changing the power output.

lightforce 170 is beter imho than a clulite as you can focus the beam for a tighter spot and this can increase your distance.depends if you want it for airgun, rimfire ,full bore or used with dogs.the 170 also comes with a dimmer option and different colour filters..
