thanks, my mate has a 17 and says its great for long range but the cartridges are to expensive

try shooting a swede regular! i wish they were 22p a pop

i have a love/hate relationship with my hmr, when it's behaving it's fine but every now and then it'll let go a flyer and that's when i put the fecker away and say "never again". until the next time that is. for an all rounder i'd have to say my 22lrs get a lot of use

seems that most people agree that the 22lr is old faithful alrounder.

Gram71 your swede what is it???? been raking me brain and its begining to hurt!!!!!!!!!!.

sorry mate, i don't mean the vegetable, although last time i went shopping they were a fair bit more than 22p each, i meant swedish mauser, more commonly known as a 6.5x55, last lot of factory ammo i bought was a batch of norma at a shocking £1.75 a bang :icon_eek:

good quality brass though so i'll be reloading that in the future.

Gram71 thats interesting, i have been looking for 2 more rifles one of 270 or over maybe 308 or one of the 7.62`s the other was going to be 243 or 6.5x55. how do you find it?

the ammo price is the only draw back, home loading is the best option, head weights range from 85gr hps to 156gr partitions which is 30 cal territory. it's a heavy bullet going around 2700fps, not as fast or flat as .243, but barrel life is considerably longer, it'll drop pretty much anything tho, so more than enough gun for me, if your down my way one weekend drop me a line and you can try her out.
