The Duncan 802
I don't know many that regularly shoot bunnies a long way past 75 yards with a rimmie, but I do know some that are good with the hmr on bunnies to 200 yards (conditions depending). You're dead right though; horses for courses. Each has its niche, the rimmie being the more versatile IMHO. Cheers D Quote Link to post
richmcgin 32
Well dunc I keep my 22 zeroed to 75 as I find it the most useful zero range. And I shoot a lot of bunnies at about 120 my record is 160 and I have a 150 on vid but 100 is an average range round here. I agree that a good shot will do ok at 200 with a 17 but my thought would be that it would be an exception to do consistently well at that range and not something that your average bod. Could do without loads of trigger time Quote Link to post
The Duncan 802
Your exploits with rimfire sound incredible Rich, maybe I should get more rimfire practise when I upgrade to a high quality bolt action? If I had an area where the average range was 100 yards, I'd definitely be on it with hmr and the .22 would stay in the cabinet. Quote Link to post
richmcgin 32
Like you say mate horses for coarses nothing incredable about my shooting mate I miss my fair share, I missed a fox at 100 last week with the 223 but got him in the head at just over 200. If you like I can dig that vid out tonight when I get home if you like. Am out in a hay barn at the month waiting for raynard to pay a visit at the mo Quote Link to post

dogdown 1
I have a ruger 10/22 and a cz 452 .17hmr both have their purpose. .22 have put many many rabbits to book and a few fox.It is a fun semi to shoot as well. The cz is mainly for fox as this is the biggest calibre allowed on my permission. It is a great little round and its quite amazing the power it kicks out. The .22 would be my all round rimmy of choice. Ben Quote Link to post
