blackdug 90
i have got an electric hen ,a 125 watt heat bulb and 250 watt bulb ...i only used the electric hen for the first few days then the little barstewards started sleeping on top of it so i put them under the 125 watt heat bulb ,,i like the heat bulb as i can see them at all times and they seem to spend more time jumping around under the bulb than they did under the elecric hen....horses for courses though
patterdalejoel 669
Get an electric hen much better and cheaper on the electric do you put a plain white light in for lighting or just use the natural sunlight?
Moll. 1,770
No bulb in it so natural or room lighting. This way the chicks also have darkness for sleeping
millytheterrier 12
Ive always wondered what a electric hen looked like and I now know. I use just a normal red bulb, thinks its 40 watts. will find out tomorrow.
Millet 4,497
A electric hen is much more efficient and will last a lot longer than a bulb..i have a 600mm x 400mm leccy hen here which produce's a good even heat through the area below a lot more heat than a bulb and it is only 60watt totaly waterproof and easily washed..when at it's lowest spot for day old's it put's a even 100f out which in my eye's is ideal..
