german wirehaired pointer, anyone own one?

Hi lads & lassies, was thinking of getting a GWP pup, i know nothing of the breed and was wondering do any of you have one? any advise would be greatly appreciated, regarding training, temperement etc, thanks in advance, Reynardhunter

they can be more hot headed than the other germans ( sh,gm(dlh),km,dw etc etc ) but DO make good dogs for pretty much everything you train them for.

i take it you want the dog as a stalking partner?

 

thats where i would say they come into their own. i have seen five of these work roe deer ( wounded trails) in germany.the "blood bred" dogs are not " allowed" to!!!!!!!

 

top notch! and capable at the catch/hold too.
