Guest Scuba1
Can't get it up Ok, this is embarrassing but we're all grown up enough to be able to talk openly about this sort of thing. Well, this morning I couldn't get it to swell. I tugged it, squeezed it, stretched it, and massaged it but just ended up with a sticky mess all over my hands. Eventually things started to happen but only after I'd exposed it to sunlight for nearly an hour. I'm new to bread making. Is it always this tricky? Can anyone give me a red hot tip? Yokel Matt 918
Oh... i share your pain Only kneed it for five mins of so otherwise you will get a very 'close' bread. Use 650 gms of strong plain flour, 1 - 2 teaspoons of salt, one of sugar and one of yeast. Add warm water and mix until it clages together... you can add more flour if it is too sticky, and fold and knead for 5 mins. Put it in a warm place with a damp cloth over it for an hour or so (preferably two). Remember to grease the tin if you are using one...
