The only way you will see how good the brass is, Is in fact to run it through a concentricity gauge and check the run out on it, in both body and neck,

differing weights of brass, quality of flash hole, All will show exactlly what you get for you buck

and lapua, in my opinion takes some beating, you will not notice it with normal hunting paramaters but extend the range

and you will see the difference quality brass will make, consistancy is the key to accuracy, and that starts with the brass,

Yeah but paying so much for brass kind of takes the cheapness out of reloading

That is a missconception mate, as quality brass mean more accurate rounds which lead to a higher hit rate

let me put it to you this way if i wanted to hit a fox at 350 or 400 yards, then i would aim to fire one shot and make that hit,

now with a cheaper quality component then it may mean you fire 2 or even three shots to get the target,

if on a budget then winchester bass would be my next recomendation but takes a little more work to make them shoot...

Good brass well looked after will last a lot longer than the cheaper stuff. I anneal all cals after three re-loadings. With the .338 I do it after each firing. That alone makes the brass last longer. If brass is soft, the primer recess begins to expand very quickly and that is the death of any brass

Well i have it abot a week now, have had a good look over it and it all seems ok flash holes are fine sizes are all very good, trimmed the cases to my nornmal length, will just have to see how long it lasts.

I t will be fine mate, you are not shooting 1000 yd competition just foxes and the odd munty,I defy anyone to tell the diference at stalking ranges between prvi brass and the holy grail Lapua, just load some careful loads and enjoy, people really do over egg the cake when talking about reloading.

It's good stuff. I get a ready supply for my .308 & .243, when I say ready, I actually mean free ;)

Okay the quality isn't as good as Lapua or Norma, quality is on par with Sako or Winchester and thats all you need for hunting situations.

Personally, I don't think reloading is cheap at all, in fact you can buy Privi ammunition cheaper than you can reload and if my rifles liked ready rolled privi ammo, thats exactly what I would buy but my rifles don't so I'm stuck reloading ;)

As for the Privi brass, if you wanted to get technical, then case wall thickness isn't as uniform as other brass, in fact I found two high spots on one case (?) lol.

Using Privi brass, I still manage to squeeze sub MOA out of my Rem700 Tac in .308 flavour and sub MOA out of my pro-hunter in .243. When the deer and foxes start to complain about brass quality, I'll switch to a different brand ....lol

To be honest I think the issue with cheap brass is less about accuracy at 'normal' stalking ranges but more about value for money in the amount of times you can reload the brass. The longer the brass lasts, the cheaper each shot. Soft brass can be useless after three reloads, good brass can give you from ten up to forty reloads (calibre dependant).

.338LM brass is expensive but I buy lapua. After each firing the brass is annealed and graded carefully. So far they have managed ten reloads with no rejects. I have used privi in .223 and 6.5 and to be honest I find it better than some of the American stuff. One manufacturer in particular produces brass that is more like toffee, its that soft.

this was the second group the first was 5 shot, one fouling round as i cleaned the barrel within an inch of its life at the weekend the next 3 where in the same hole possibly a little smaller than this, then the fifth was after an adjustment to bring the group onto the coss hair but to be honest the cross hair covered a good bit of the target. i have not measured the group size yet.
