BIG G wheton machine 1,594
good topic tc, my opinion is we can train the pup in mannerism, obedience, stock breaking and the quarry its to hunt/kill, give it a good diet, bed and exersize and by breeding certain types for certain quarry helps. i also believe its down to confidence in the we dog and building its confidence by keeping it winning in its early apprenticship gives it self belief as it matures. but we can only give it the tools for the job then its down to the dog as to wether it can see the job through. i believe its down to the amount of heart in the dog to get going when the going gets tough. bit like when bruno fought tyson he looked the piece had the tools to win but folded like wet bogroll when the bell went to start boxing lol. but good topic and good to how much we differ in our methods :victory: tosh bruno had him going and backed off rather than going in to finish him if i remember right big frank showed the chinks in his armour wasnt big bruno it was buster douglas that first defeated tyson and tyson even admitted douglas wasnt even a great boxer but that night he had the heart and fought like a man possesed Quote Link to post

Adam_Chuck 256
I agree it's the trainer they must know when the dog is ready ie starting to early. Same applies for boxing a good trainer after spending a full fight camp with the fighter should know what his mental state is, know what pumps him up and keeps him going but also when to stop. Also dogs aren't robots they have bad nights/days just like fighters. It's up to the trainer to recognise the faults and work to build on them. 1 Quote Link to post

BLACKWATER... 157
to get a good dog you need to no dogs and breeding only way there no shortcuts just trail and error at times , but if youre clever about it , you can come good ,it takes years of expierence in the feild mistakes and sucsess , some never go forward others strive to go forward 1 Quote Link to post

FUJI 17,156
do you think its the man behind the dog that makes a good running dog or is it the dog that makes the man?? It's far easier to ruin a good dog then it is to turn a poor dog into something it was never destined to be...if you ain't got the proper tools for the job then your onto a losing battle .ATB Andy. 1 Quote Link to post

juckler123 707
True it was in there to start with but the owner couldnt see it my old mate was a sod for spotting good dogs with kids hed let them come out with him a few times and tell them the dog was no good then offer to buy it off them i swear some kids are better than adults at entering reckon its the keeness rubbing off on the dog. BrianSteven72 369
i always say the dog has to have the basic tools to start with like pace and a bit of brain after that its all down to the trainer Quote Link to post
